This is a good video to show to the condescending statists with advanced degrees who think they know better.  The ideas are so elementary, yet intellectual exercises can become so complex and convoluted that they overshadow basic truths.  The ancients called it making the weaker argument seem the stronger.

The only thing I have to disagree with here is the assertion that cash = desires. Money is actually more symbolic for work accomplished; I mean for effort, ingenuity, practical creativity, the like . . . but I suppose adding the actual work done to generate the value of the money would have made the equation waay too difficult for the "intended audience" to grasp. haha

Secondly, I can tell you for a fact as a legally married gay man in California every time I do my Federal taxes I'm reminded that I DON"T have EQUAL RIGHTS thanks to DOMA.

If one of us died unexpectedly any inherited assets over 3 million would be subject to inheritance tax and over $13K gift tax. However a surviving heterosexual spouse wouldn't be taxed anything. So if conservatives practiced what they preached they should support EVERYONE being treated equally under the law!

I never said Tricare, or any other government expenditure, is not being cut.

I am saying :

1) Tricare is not being cut because of obamacare, but because the federal deficit needs to be cut.

2) Obamacare does not recognise or not recognise tricare. Tricare is different legislation. Get that ? Separate.

3) Tricare is socialised medicine, so claiming that whilst denying socialised medicine to others is hypocrisy.

Definition of a conservative is one who has dedicated their life to preserving old traditional ways. In early United States history slave ownership was traditional. The men who formed the KKK, rose up to fight Lincoln and succeed from the Union, defended slavery, Jim Crow laws, racial segregation and deny blacks the right to vote and still do today were/are conservatives not liberals!

That at one point in history that conservatives called themselves a Democrat or Republican is not relevant!

Finally some common ground, I knew we would find it. I agree with your top comment to a point I don't think slave owners were job creators, but that's semantics. Conservatives claim government is a problem because of the way it reduces the ability of a company to succeed, I agree big business is a huge problem, but at the level I believe a level of protection can be just as inefficient from the Gov as it is the business i.e. the FDA sucks.

Excellent choice. The kind of choice we should always be free to make, but not forced to make. My choice was a stupid choice but it was mine to make and it worked out okay. Particularly since I worked in construction. If medical savings accounts had been around back then I would have done that but at the time I didn't think the risk justified the premiums. Nowadays I like to have a lot of options. Never have liked the one size fits all approach and never will.

2. In any case, when the aggregate quality of life increases, the country prospers. When everyone can afford, say, food and water, and a doctor when they are sick, the country is more productive and hence more profitable. I know, this is that big scary thing that Fox likes to call "communism", but it's really just caring for those who cannot care for themselves. It's about being a decent human and making sure that none go without.
