Identifying True Worship, Part 3: David Splane's explanation of the Overlapping Generations doctrine

In 2010, the Organization of Jehovah's Witnesses attempted to explain Matthew 24:34 using a novel approach. This was later modified in 2014 in an even more novel way. The question is: Is this doctrinal interpretation Biblical accurate or the fantasy of men?

I watched this series of videos months ago and didn’t understand everything. But since my prayerful study of the scriptures what you are highlighting makes sense and I now see through the deception that was once blinding me from the truth.

My grandfather died when I was 34, so my life overlapped with his for 34 years. What educated English speaking person would say that because of this, he, myself and my father were all of the same generation. My life overlapped with my great-grandfathers for 3 years, therefore he and I are also of the same generation. This is just another example of how JWs create their own definitions for words, in order to control the narrative and justify their ridiculous exegesis approach to Biblical interpretation.

I woke up about 2 years ago now. It was very overwhelming at first and I didn’t know what to believe anymore. I’m glad that I kept my faith. I cannot use the name Jehovah anymore, I’ve done a lot of research into the name and I do not agree that it is God’s name. I also do not use the NWT as I think it has added and deleted words and a book made to fit into the Jw theology. If you think about the generation teaching, A generation is around 40 years, Jesus uttered those words around 30AD and the destruction of the temple was in 70AD exactly 40 years. I wish they would just admit that they haven’t a clue. Thanks for your videos Eric I really enjoy them 🙂

I have been watching your series all morning. Isn't it amazing how they slowly changed teachings over the years to suit their interpretation of the Bible. You might want to check into their connection with the Masons. A good definition of the generation is found in Matthew and Mark. I am an ex-JW being a 4th gen child, they claim my great grandfather was of the anointed but he was deluded like all of us were. If we believe still, all we need is Jesus... but I am still on the fence about even this. I am reading a book that talks about people being alive before the Adam & Eve story! It's called Uriel's Machine, if you want to find it.

Your examination of this subject was a real help. I had thought that Splane's explanation was grasping at straws and you really exposed the weaknesses in this speculative and illogical attempt to make the Watchtower right about their doctrine. Thank you.

33:33 "OOH MY"!! Ha, ha, ha.... That's what I said in 2014 when a Watchtower magazine came out explaining the 100 years of overlapping was due. Can't even begin to imagine how many blind followers of this dogmatic religion understand this explanation that has changed so many times, over time. I once had a photo with my son, me, my dad and my grandfather and i remember my grandfather was so proud of the seeing 4 generations of his family name together on a photo and that he lived to experience that.
My point is that now i need to think that its just one big generation overlapping each If you want keep stalling time that is.
I mean how long do they want to continue doing this?
Next one will be even longer because the generation that is overlapping the overlapping generation of annointed ones will not pass away, until they overlap with a new generation, anyone following me😜i didn't think so😂

Since finding the Lord Jesus Christ I have been under battle and a veil has been lifted from my eyes. Sadly I’ve lost all my family members and when I try speak of Jesus with my family, they are quick to deflect and say “the organisation is right” contradicting what the bible actually says. I pray for those seeking the truth. The Lord himself said “Ask, and it shall be given to you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you” For two years I was lost and confused, about who to follow. Now He has opened my eyes and I see the truth and it has set me free. Please do not lose hope and do not doubt yourselves when researching, the Holy Spirit is groaning to the Lord everytime you ask him to show you the truth. Ask the Lord for guidance and he will guide you in your Journey. Do not be afraid! Fear is used as a tactic of keeping you in the organisation, the Lord does not want you to fear anything except his Word and his Teachings ✊🏽
