Previous Mars missions explored the surface of the planet, but NASA's InSight spacecraft is ready to explore what's inside the Red Planet. What are your thoughts on the exploration of Mars thus far?

I'm no rocket scientist but why do we not slow down spacecraft before they get to mars? Entering at 13, 000 MPH sounds like a bad idea. Instead slow down get into orbit and then land. I understand it would cost a lot more money but you also wouldn't have 50% spacecraft crashing into the surface, just a thought.

Wish they'd look at why it's surface is red. If it's caused from baked on atmospheric gases, which would tell us if the EARTH spectrum of light is universal or not, and could also be a very useful tool to factually analyse exoplanet in more detail.
