Our working lab had never heard a firework before, he took himself into the garden and sat and watched them all night, he loved them😂

when I was a kid back in the 1950's, my father had this gorgeous Rough Coat Collie. When the fireworks started up the dog ran out of the house and disappeared. My dad was frantic. But two days later he received a phone call and our collie, Bruce, had been miles away! He ran that far trying to get away from the sound hurting his ears.
Many years later, I had a Brittany Spaniel and my Scottish husband played bagpipes. But Sassy loved the bagpipes. I she heard them on the television she plant herself in front of the TV and watch till the end. lol

The first year my dog was with me on new years eve, he was outside right when the fireworks started. He mostly calmed down when I got him inside, but he still got scared every time a firework went off. Next year, I didn't let him outside the house before the fireworks started, and he was totally chill the whole time

my two greater swiss mountain dogs are both so relaxed. One watches quietly and even seems to enjoy, the other sometimes chases the firecracker in the sky...When one was a puppy the first new years eve, I gave her a huge bone to chew on.
so far, I've never seen either dog being fearful in any situation, only a few time a little annoyed....very relaxed living with them.

I had my boxer as a puppy at a fireworks show and she loved them her entire life. I had a German Shepard that said piece out and jumped over my fence on the 4th of July

My dog was used to loud noises because of video game explosions. Until one year he was outside when a thunder storm rolled in and a strike hit nearby. Took a couple years for him to not be afraid of thunder and fireworks again.

Had a dog that wasn’t scared but rather extremely confused. He kept looking for where the bright light went thinking it was some kind of squirrel or something

I’ve been very lucky. My rottie was never bothered by fireworks. She taught my bully it’s no big deal, who in turn taught my golden it’s nothing to worry about. It also helped me that I’m not one to fuss when they do startle at a loud unexpected sound. I let them figure it out, and they quickly come to the conclusion it’s no big deal. It didn’t hurt them, didn’t attack them, didn’t kill them. I see so many people making an absolute fuss over their dog when it startles and they just seem to make it worse by doing that. Yes, the dog got startled. No, it didn’t die. It’s fine. Let the dog figure it out.

I don't know what I did but my dog has absolutely no fear of fireworks. We have loads of fun she loves running round eating everyone's crumbs from all the food off the floor then when the fireworks start we watch them together with her sitting on my lap. She actually seems to enjoy them and looks up at the sky with me.

That is brilliant! I have done another method before and it wasnt very successful as my old dog got terrified as she aged. My dog now hasnt really been around for fireworks but he is fine with storms lol

So, I play death metal on my drum set (it’s a real one), and my beagle went from cowering in the corner to watching me to putting his little paw on my lap to try and get me to pay attention to him. By the time 4th of July came around, he thought the fireworks were really loud drums and kept trying to get me to pay attention to me, even when I was around him, I use the restroom, and he put his paw on me. Absolutely adorable

I think aa place to start is to not assume the dog will be petrified. Because you anticipating that will make the dog stress out. None of my animals have ever been scared of fireworks (that includes not just dogs also cats, rodents and a rabbit) but we're quite chilled out about it, we comfort them at first since the first few can shock them a little, but we don't make a big deal about it.

Our neighbour used to freak out during fireworks thinking her dog was scared but the dog wasn't even that bothered, the owner was more stressed than the dog.
