Marinated sumac onions are a quick and easy recipe of thinly sliced onions marinated in lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and sumac, a citrusy red spice.

Sumac onions are an excellent alternative to pickled onions. They can be made in less than 30 minutes in a bowl with simple ingredients.

INGREDIENTS:
2 medium red onions thinly sliced
4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon sumac
½ teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 cup flat-leaf parsley finely chopped

STORAGE: Sumac onions are excellent for meal prep, as they keep well in the fridge for up to 5 days.

oh, this looks absolutely stunning! i have some sumac brought back from a trip sitting in my cupboard and have been waiting for an excuse to buy some red onions. 🤭 can't wait to try this!
one question, though – could it be turned into a pickle and stored in a jar (in the fridge) for some time?

Hey....SUMAC grows wild here in Ontario Canada. We also use it for spice and make Lemonade from sumac. Its not just yours from the middle east. Lots of ingredients are from other parts of the world.
