Should I Pray in Faith and then say, 'If it's Your Will, Lord?' | Q&A

Someone recently asked the question, "Brother Allen, should I pray in faith believing and trusting God for what I want Him to do and then end my prayers with, 'if it be your will?'" The question they were really asking here is, "will God see this as a sign of lack of faith if I pray this way?"

This is a valid question. Should we just pray in faith or is it okay to say "if it be your will?" Well, in this very short video I attempt to answer that question.

Hey BEAT family! Today's video is SUPER short but hopefully will clear up something that I see a lot of Christians being confused about. Someone recently asked me, "Should I pray a prayer of faith and then end my prayers with, 'if it's your will Lord?'" They were concerned that if they did that, that would send the message to God that they really didn't have enough faith to believe in their own prayer. So, I address that question/concern in today's video. Enjoy and let me know your thoughts!

Jesus said to his boys when they asked Him how to pray. He included “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done”. Lots of times we want but God knows. Our prayers should be two fold. We may need strength to handle God’s will. So we should pray for that as well. There’s nothing wrong with making requests. Just be able to handle no. All prayers are heard and answered. We have to prepare for no being the answer. There’s been many time where God told me no, and many years later I told Him thank you because it was a bad ideal.

Prayer is NOT a matter of USING CERTAIN WORDS but bringing your HEART to God. It's OK to recognize his will but also to trust in his power! Helpful Video Allen.

We should pray for God's will to be done! Sometimes what we feel or think is not the will of God.

Thank you Allen. I prayed about my father sickness and said “may your will be done” and my mother and other people all got upset because they thought i had no faith and or that i didn’t care much of him being sick.” I simply said, what if it is God’s will. We humans dont know

When I make a request to the Lord I always start it with "If it is your will" because I care more about what God wants than what I want. At the end of the day, it's God's decision anyway. Sometimes he says no and sometimes he says yes. By praying for his will to be done, I am declaring that whatever God's answer is I will trust him even if his answer is not the one I wanted.

My mother had m.s. and we prayed for years to be healed and she was bed ridden, for 19 years, she ultimately died and never was healed but I had to accept that God had bigger plans and who knows who got saved because of her, because she always talked about Jesus Christ and how much she loves him

Praise the Lord! Even Jesus, in the garden said: Not my will, but let your will be done...we're followers of Him...can't hurt right!

This is something I’ve been questioning for weeks now. I’d often pray boldly and then finish with “but your will be done Father.” I’d feel like I lacked faith, but I ultimately felt that acknowledging and declaring that His plans are greater and above everything else was extremely important to declare. Thank you so much for this video Allen. It really helped to clarify and reiterate the importance of submitting to Him.

The apostle paul asked for his thorn to be removed. God responded "My Grace is sufficient for thee"

I love this. "Let Your will be done" reminds me of how my God is big, awesome and powerful, in control of every season, every second of my life. It gives me so much peace and assurance in many circumstances. His will, not our will. His ways, not our ways.

I only like saying that to remind myself that it's not about what I want and that it is, in fact, by God's will alone. I think it's more a reminder to never forget who I am to give thanks and the glory to. I also think it could be because I'm still a very baby Christian so I don't want to develop bad habits. lol

As always, thank you for your teachings! Your videos are always a welcome chance to glean more biblical understanding and I am so grateful for them! <3

Amen and AMEN! This is the same position Shadrach, Meshak and Abednago took before they were thrown in the fiery furnace! After 13 years of salvation, I have only really trusted God enough to live like this JUST this year - and this has been the least stressful and most liberating, joyful and peaceful 11 months of my entire life!! Praise Jesus for HIS great and infinite wisdom! There is no greater comfort in this life than to KNOW ur life is led by the Lord and that you know u are walking in HIS WILL! Glory to the one and only true and living King, our first love Christ Jesus! 💙🙏🏽

I always felt that when I say let your will be done, it was more of me saying, if this is what God wants to happen then please let it happen.

Yes ! Rev. Parr, I always felt that we can ask GOD for HIS mercy and compassion ; but we cannot command GOD to answer our prayers according to our wishes. GOD is sovereign.

I've always been taught that the saying "not my will but yours be done" indicates that we can ask God for anything. But as humans, what we want may be a desire that is not in Gods will. We are indeed allowed to pray for anything, but saying "if it is Your will" is -to me-an affirmation that I'm seeking what God wants and if my desires line up with His, that's awesome. But if not, then His will be done always, because what we want most of the time tends to be a fleeting feeling and not a part of the overall plan for our lives.

Yes Mr. Parr this is spot on!!! There are some issues where we have to say “Lord willing” and know that if God says no, it’s for the best! He’s a wonderful Father and we must trust Him in all decisions.
