One reason could be that Squier necks don’t have to be removed to adjust the truss rod, and some of us prefer playing our guitars not working on them.

Reason why someone want to do this? Easy: maybe his original neck is broken and he has not the money for a new fender neck at the moment. ✌️🙂

Most people do the opposite of this. A squire with a fender neck is cheaper than a fender

I'm building a strat with all the guts from a failed mod project, so I bought a Squier CV 50s neck for it! Now I'm just troubleshooting to find a body bc factory replacements need holes drilled haha

I wore out the frets on my MIM strat and found a Squier neck for $30(!) a few years back - definitely cheaper than a refret. Now I have my own Paranormal-type creation 😊

why would you wanna do that? Because there's some places that sell discounted loaded neck and loaded bodies. For example, you can buy a signature KC Jaguar in two pieces for cheaper than assembled. But why not lower the price even more by installing a cheaper squier neck and putting some work on it. It all depends on budget, your current tools, experience, and how much time you're willing to put on a guitar.

The opposite is valid too. Some people prefer the sound of the Squier pickups of the classic vibe series or the look, so they get a squier loaded body and because the neck can take a lot more work to setup, and can make the most difference on feel, then they get a higher quality fender neck for their classic vibe body.

I found a squier strat in the trash on move out day in my dorms, picked it up and it was the best neck I have ever felt; so I put it on my fender body !

I did the opposite - when the truss rod on my Classic Vibe P-bass went south, I slapped a MIM Fender P-bass neck on it.The thicker neck put it right into the zone - the neck didn't flex like the old one, and the tone got beefed up.

You can save your fender neck for resale, or use it later when you wore out the S neck.

When you put the neck on the other body YOU MUST USE THE NECK PLATE.

Kinda like the Squier P-bass necks feel like a cross between a Precision & Jazz neck, (not as wide as a Precision, not as thin as a Jazz) The Squier Tele guitar neck will feel different, than a Fender. & at some point, you may find it necessary, to do a neck adjustment.

I’ve done it a couple times as long as they’re both on necks. You’re pretty good to be honest, I prefer a Squire or G&L over a fender neck.

Works on the Epiphone special models too, you just definitely want to make new pilot holes
