Virus.DOS.Barrotes

i've tried schitech and unifresh on DOS but neither work for setting the refresh rate as far as I can see. if you have any ideas let me know.

Barrotes is a spanish word roughly translated to "bars".  I've heard barrotes being used more to describe "jail bars" than bars... since Barra is the spanish word for Bar.

Pretty much describes what the virus do.... makes some jail bars appears on the screen.

DOS is only 60hz when on a screen mode that has around 480 pixel rows, whether it is 320x480, 640x480, etc. This explains why Windows 95 had no problem with 60hz, because it was running at 640x480 on VGA.

VGA seems to be locked at 70 Hz in most text modes used by default in MS-DOS so I don't believe it's too easy to change that without altering the motherboard somehow

As far as I know, the VGA standard hasn't changed or is still compatible with modern monitors. I recently hooked up an old Windows 3.11 machine to my modern LCD screen. It worked great, in dos and in windows. Although I couldn't change any graphics settings, resolution etc. But that monitor doesn't support 70 Hz as far as I know. So maybe thats an idea

Perhaps running the video through some adapters could help? VGA (or whatever it is) to HDMI back to VGA would cap the refresh rate to 60, I believe, but would be an expensive solution that would cause input lag. For the sake of not having a flickery video, why not just use an LCD?
