Another thing about the yarn scraps if you brush them out with a slicker brush (animal brush) it unravels and become stuffing

You can use an old sock toe or thick stockings to add the pellets without having to worry about them escaping.

The scraps! Brilliant way to use scrap pieces of yarn! I will start doing this today. Thank you!

I've used poly pellets in my toys butts that are top heavy to keep them from face planting. I put them in a fabric bag that is sewn shut to avoid leaking and chocking hazards. I love your videos! Thanks for another great one.

I just learned this at my local crochet group and I think you would love this! We use felting needles to felt on faces instead of embroider using those yarn ends!

I use nylon feetie (the type you try shoes on with) as little baggies and put poly-pellets in the for use in crochet Amigurumi. Gives it that pleasant weighted feeling.

You could also felt the yarn scraps brushing them so that they act more like a stuffing. Hope this helps!

i LOVE the polyfill down alternative. it has a texture very reminiscent of squishmallow stuffing! it’s not great for things that need to hold a good shape but for bodies and heads it’s amazing! my first big project was a chenille yarn manatee and the stuffing makes him such a good cuddle buddy :)

Yarn scraps are nice and real cotton (not bleached polyester) cotton balls. I try to avoid plastic as much as possible

I am currently using quilt batting because my mother isn’t making quilts anymore. It’s a little tough to rip apart but it makes the toys I crochet sturdy. Most of what I crochet goes to my grand niece who is almost 1. Personally I can’t tell the difference between poly fill and quilt batting.

I live in a small town and a bag of stuffing is around $40-60 so I just buy a 2 pack of brand new cheap pillows for $6 and use the polyfill from them. I live in New Zealand so everything is very expensive but I have found a few hacks to save money without compromising quality.

There’s black polyfill for darker colored toys. Like for a black crochet cat.

I buy Ikea pillows and cut them open. Works great and is cheap

Funny, I was literally buying stuffing for amigurumi last night! I got Poly-fill for the first time, and I like it so much better than whatever softer fiber I'd been using.... It's much less messy.
