If the official figures are bad, just imagine what the real figures are like...

Russia: "You might as well stop the sanctions, they're not working anyway!"
The West: "Wait for it."

As somebody said (in writing about company reports) bad figures always seem to take longer to add up.

I'm not an economist, but I struggle to see how it's good for the Kremlin economy if all the things currently being made in Ruzzia are destined to go up in smoke.

The ruble has collapsed in value, since the graph is in rubles that needs to be taken into consideration as well. So it is actually worse than what the graph shows

Ukraine targeting Russian oil/gas processing and refining plants has done a lot of damage in very little amount of time. The Russian economy is very inflexible. If oil and gas revenue are down by more than 50% then Russia's economy is running entirely on war spending aka deficit spending. Russia has a year at maximum before total economic collapse.

22:14 Ukraine is targeting fraction towers in its drone attacks on refineries. This would explain the fall in petrol/gasoline production.

I could buy my own bike from myself and class it as "revenue"! (And then destroy it) 😅

If the data they're posting is bad imagine how bad it really is. They spin things to unbelievable BS. I know we sometimes have different perspective on things. But it's like if you'd crash your car and destroy it the Russians would claim it's only a scratch and the damage is only cosmetic. Sure you can put make up on a pig but it's still a pig. It's actually really cringe and embarassing how hard they try to spin things to their advantage...

Joe, have you considered that this "other income" might actually be the Russian welfare fund, i.e. gold that they had amassed previously and are selling now? In fact, the welfare fund total has been halved in 2023. At this rate they would consume it completely by the end of 2024. What comes then is unknown...

Although the Ukranians are struggling because of shortages of ammunition and hardware they are doing far better in more technical warfare bringind down more and more aircraft. Due to more hi-tech missles and may even be F-16.s being used. Russia is loosing high value aircraft and men. Russia has opened up its own wound which is bleeding out - faster and faster. The Russian people don't seem to care much about their own people dying in the war, but I think they will care when the cost of living escalates further and food becomes unaffordable.

@Joe, I'm a long-time subscriber and first I want to praise your magnificent updates. Now, I have a suggestion I hope you'll read and possibly consider mentioning in your next update on RU revenue figures. More specifically I want to mention that part of the increased _Non Oil & Gas Revenue_ is an attempt by Russia to hide the share of revenue that they're earning when selling on the black market. Of course, all in all, Russia has still lost tremendous amounts of revenue from oil & gas. Sill it'd be great that you point out the deceptive and shady methods the Russians use to paint their economy. *— In effect they're attempting to hide this revenue in hopes that it'll take some of the heat and spotlight off this vital income.*
