It was a good discussion. I really liked Allen's book, but I have to say, I didn't fake it when I received my prayer language in the privacy of my bedroom while praying over 40 years ago. It's very real.

All I know, is when my Dad was actively dying and I was praying for his healing, I could NOT speak in english, not even if I tried. In that state of desperation, I could only pray in tongues. That was the most sincere and deepest time of prayer I have ever had, and my spirit would only use my private prayer language.
That's when I knew for sure that when I recieved my tongues, it was truly from the Lord and was not done of myself.
There is something so powerful about it, there is no denying that it's a personal moment between you and your savior.

The tough part of this whole debate is that if you have believed one way very strongly for many years, it’s a monumental admission to say that you’ve been wrong. Imagine speaking in tongues for decades and then getting to the point that you admit it wasn’t what you thought it was? It would be very difficult to process that mentally and spiritually.

This was a great, fruitful debate. I definitely hold a similar position to Ruslan and I think he represented those who believe there is a prayer language well. I appreciated him opening his previous video like he did because I use to fake it when I was in a charismatic church and the perspective of feeling guilt and shame about it was an important perspective to give

As someone that has done missions work in southeast India where we absolutely needed an interpreter because we did not know telegu, this is a simple breakdown when it comes to languages. If I got on the mic in a service and I prayed/ spoke in ENGLISH on the mic, everyone wouldn’t understand me. So it’s no good! I would need an interpreter to edify the body in India. That’s all Paul is saying! That doesn’t stop me from going to pray to God in English which is a language not known to some in India. The “Prayer language” or speaking in tongues IS a language. It’s just not known to men but God as Paul clearly states. Selah once again. I appreciate the conversation.

we need a lot more conversations like this. so productive, respectful and informative. as someone that grew up charismatic I also felt it was in poor taste to mock tongues in Allen's last video, being a long time fan. glad that got addressed.
