There is another way. Let u = 2 exp (x+2) and 4u = 2 exp (x+4), You will have 4u-u = 3; 3u= u=1 then equate 1 = 2 exp (x+2) since 1 can be written as 2 exp 0, since you have the same base 2 then 0 = x= -2
