Homemade Chaap
INGREDIENTS
Water - 1 litre
Soybean chunks - 65 grams
Soybean - 190 grams
Salt - 1 teaspoon
All purpose flour - 200 grams
PREPARATION
1. Wash and soak 190 grams soybean in enough water for overnight.
2. Heat 1 litre water in a pan and boil 65 grams soya chunks until they turn soft. Remove from hot water and soak soya chunks in sufficient amount of water for 20 – 25 minutes or until they turn soft.
3. Once turned soft, remove the excess water from the soya chunks by squeezing them, preferably with hand.
4. Take a mixture. Add soybean chunks and blend in mixer to make batter.
5. Take another mixture. Add soybean chunks and blend in mixer to make batter.
6. In a mixing bowl, add the soybean batter, soybean chunks batter, 1 teaspoon salt, 200 grams all purpose flour and mix well to make a stiff dough.
7. Take a ball out of the dough and roll it with the help of a rolling pin like you do for making chapatis in a routine.
8. Now with the help of a knife or pizza cutter, cut the rolled roti into strips as shown in the video.
9. Roll each strip around the ice cream sticks.
10. Heat sufficient water in a heavy skillet, add the chaats in it. Let them boil for 15 - 20 minutes, immediately shift them to the bowl having cold water.
11. Let the chaaps rest in cold water for 10 - 15 minutes or until they become cool completely.
12. Bring them out from the cold water and shift in a zip lock bag. If you don’t have zip lock bag, nothing to worry. Take a polyethylene bag, fill the chaaps into it and close it with the rubber band.
13. Place your ziplock bag/ polythene bag in freezer.
14. Your Chaap is ready.
