I like how Rourke doesn't disregard the fact that the crystal isn't what he expected to be, and fully acknowledges it as it is…and shrugs it off

What makes this film so interesting is that they weren't afraid to show Guns of any kind. Lugers, Enfield's, I think even a Lewis LMG at some point.

It's the way he's still so casual about it all that really gets you. Rourke didn't just suddenly turn into a different person, we're just finally seeing him for what he really was all along.

Rourke isn't the only one who 'betrayed' Milo, the other guys did too.

Rourke was actually giving Milo a test of character and Rourke knew deep down Milo would go against his plans on stealing the Crystal and it is implied this isn’t the first time that happened as it is suggested he had a fight with Milo’s late grandfather and waited until he died before taking the page from the shepherds journal.

Kida absolutely decimated that soldiers bloodline.

The Lost Empire. He initially appears as a very reliable and praiseworthy commander able to lead his men through perils, but as the film progresses, he turns out to be a highly manipulative, ruthless and sadistic mercenary who is out to capture the Heart of Atlantis and make money off of it. He is Milo Thatch's arch-nemesis. He was voiced by the late James Garner in the… 2022 You have a Nice Swim?", and Commander Rourke and his gun, and Others with the Guns, and Squad "B", Commander Rourke, and Helga Sinclair's Betrayal 😈. 🎂🎊🥳🎉

Everyone talks about how badass Mulan is, but forget that Kida was such a brutal warrior she took out 3 heavily armored grown ass men by herself and nearly decapitated one of them within the span of 3 seconds.

I like how accurate the weapons are for the time period.

Has anyone ever thought how weirdly similar Avatar is to this animated Film 1.) Main character goes into new world and falls in love with princess 2.) the outsiders are there looking for a source and want to take it away from that people that keeps them alive 💀 3.) Quartich is ROURKE in some similarities they kidna look the same too lmao

It’s kind of sad that the entire crew was going to go along with Rourke’s plan, which would have destroyed Atlantis forever, until Milo’s pleas brought them back.

Rourke and Silver from Treasure Planet were some of Disney’s best villains

Even though his betrayal could be seen coming a mile away, Rourke is still one of my favorite Disney villains. If Atlantis ever gets the live-action treatment, the only actors I would want to play him would be Josh Brolin, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, or Stephen Lang.

0:44 I don't care how good of an aim Rourke has, there's no way he would be able to shoot the knife out of Kida's hand like that mid stab, let alone without shooting her hand altogether.

Something about the subtle animation towards the beginning, the nodding, I really like it.
