As a kid, this scene confused the heck out of me. Why would they be trying to blatantly lie to Whitmore but give him the pictures anyway?
Only much older I realised that they're just rehearsing the story they're gonna give the public, so that nobody like Roarke shows up at Atlantis again.

i never realized they were talking about their cover story... i always thought that he thought they didn't find anything but knew the truth and that they were lying to him about finding Atlantis

"The final shot of the film (the restored Atlantis) was actually a combination of hundreds of drawings lined up into one 1500-foot long drawing. Each of the drawings had to be carefully drawn, with the planes flying across the entire pullout to convince the audience that it was one drawing."

"The final pull-out scene of the movie, immediately before the end-title card, was described by the directors as the most difficult scene in the history of Disney animation. They said that the pullout attempt on their prior film, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, "struggled" and "lacked depth"; however, after making advances in the process of multiplaning, they tried the technique again in Atlantis. The scene begins with one 16-inch (40.6 cm) piece of paper showing a close-up of Milo and Kida. As the camera pulls away from them to reveal the newly restored Atlantis, it reaches the equivalent of an 18, 000-inch (46, 000 cm) piece of paper composed of many individual pieces of paper (24 inches [61 cm] or smaller). Each piece was carefully drawn and combined with animated vehicles simultaneously flying across the scene to make the viewer see a complete, integrated image."

I like how disney made the story so it could actually be real to the kids with it taking place in 1914 with Whitmore making a cover-up too and keeping the location secret too, really brings it to life

I love how Audrey has Milos cat Fluffy. No doubt she adopted it the way shes keeping it clean from mole and it seems to really like her.

So nostalgic. This movie is criminally underrated. Only reason it bombed was because the film deviated from the usual Disney formula around that time. Because it didn't have any singing. Because it was too mature. When I first saw the film on DVD as a 6 year old, I remember being entranced. There was just something about this movie that encapsulated my attention span. Of course I didn't understand much of what was said back then, but man it's a masterpiece that still holds up today. The writers had a vision and they saw it through despite how everything turned out. I love this movie and more people should watch it.

I like the way that the ending is that Atlantis' location is kept a secret because they knew what would happen if 'people' found it. I like it that way really, because it does tell ya if Atlantis collides with the 'outside world', they got another culture-killer to deal with.

Critics and Haters were not ready for this masterpiece back in 2001.

I was always ready.

I swear this movie has the best writing I've seen in a Disney movie. That short little letter from Milo is not only perfectly something he would say, but calls back to what Whitmore said at the beginning of the movie, and gives him what he wanted as proof that his friend was right. I just love the happiness on Whitmore's face when he puts on the crystal necklace. It makes me tear up every goddamn time.

This is my absolute favorite Disney movie.

I remember seeing this movie in theaters when I was 4. My grandpa loaded my grandma and I into the truck, drove about 45 minutes or so to the nearest theater, and we all got to see the movie in theaters.
It was awesome.
