I’ve used fine filler and foam throughout the house on every skirting board and architrave that I’ve fitted, no cracks or shrinkage yet, they still look perfect! In my last house I used to use cheap caulk and at best it would look OK for maybe 2 years. Really great tips and a valuable channel!

@Painting and Decorating
I haven't seen any of your posts in a while as have been too busy with work and my own DIY.
Thank you again for your fantastic videos, love the way you always explain things nice and clearly.
Would love to see a video on how to fill cracks in bathroom Tile grout ( in the corners of the room and around the door architrave)

Some people might think this is a lot of work . I would tell them this is the best way to fill that gap . Yes it takes time but when finished you are done for 30 years of not cracking again . If you are a home owner you are done here go on to your next project. Great video . I enjoyed it

I have used the soudal foam a lot since watching your videos and it has been really good. I have never had a crack return after using this product.

Did my stair stringer with foam and filler thanks to your previous videos. Worked out really nice and no cracks 4 months on

DIY’er here. I recently used the P&D foam fill technique around an external door frame that was fitted a few years prior and cracked all the way round. Excavating the cracks I found a mixture of soft filler (guessing ready-mixed), silicone - sometimes under the filler, and deepest in some hard-toffee brown stuff that probably predates the most recent bodge. There were a couple of tiny blobs of foam, as if the door fitters squirted the dregs of their final can out. So there was no insulation, no vibration damping or support for the odd mixture of fillers they finished with.

Subscribed and come across your channel while looking for tips. Do you have vid on general filling for new skirting ? Removed original 1930s skirting and going with mdf if makes any difference. Planned so gap will be around 1 to 3mm. I thought caulking was the right way to do it but looks like much better ways to get nice finish. Hate the look of caulking on skirting and wall even after painted so hoping way to get get better finish with something that wont crack over next 15 years plus

Another great video, if I mixed up some of the pollyfilla and put it in an air tight container, would it stay usable for a week or two? Or longer?

What about using foam rods down the gaps? Or is using expanding foam better?

I would fill with a piece of timber then use a two part filler

am not having a go mate, but i wouldnt have cut the foam back as much and fill over the top of that rather than filling first with the undercoat plaster then the filler

Does the foam have a long shelf life if used now and again?
