None of this worked for me and it was working just as recently as yesterday. Guess I'll try uninstalling VLC and reinstalling.

EDIT: Reinstalling did not work. I guess the only thing to do is wait for VLC to patch it.

method 1 doesn't work because there is no "videoLAN" file in "program files (x86)"

whenever i save the youtube.lua file with all files, it turns into a file with the lined paper and not the blank paper. how do i fix, please help? :(

Question: I tried downloading a certain video but it won't do it (it doesn't even display an error message) but when I try another video link, it works fine.

I'm running Win10 with VLC 3.0.16.

My youtube.lua file is not in Program Files (x86) it's in Program Files. The full path to my lua file is C: program files/videolan/vlc/lua/playlist/youtube.luac, which is different than the directions in your video.

I did download the youtube.luac file from the link in your description. Is it safe to replace my old lua with the new one or will it jam up my Win10 computer? I ask because your directions for your computer are a little different than how it is on my computer, and Windows is picky and finicky and jams up easily. I do NOT want to do something just cause I saw it on youtube, and jam up . Been there done that... installed a CODEC that didn't work and wouldn't uninstall... had to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows and setup my whole computer from scratch. Don't want to do that ever again. That's why I ask.
