Don't want to pay Oracle for using Java? Confused between Oracle JDK and OpenJDK, and what are different vendors? Watch this video, it help you to clear up your doubts and help you to make your decision.

With change of licensing terms for Oracle JDK in 2019, there have been a uproar among many java developer, blaming Oracle for making java paid language. But, that is not the whole truth, java has been a commercial language since the beginning, even in the Sun Microsystem era. Oracle did not make java a commercial language, but they just changed the licensing policy. Because of the fact, Sun Microsystem had open sourced the language itself in 2006 (before they were acquired by Oracle in 2010), people get confused thinking of Java as free. Well, the source code is free and everyone can use it, but if anyone wants to use Oracle JDK, then they have to pay. That means if anyone wants to use JDK for free, they have compile it from the source code, and hence, OpenJDK. However, there are many companies and open source communities who build the JDK from the source and release them for free (with not strings attached) for everyone to use. Companies like Amazon, Azul and open community AdoptOpenJDK are among many of this list.
