It's 2021, and Java has been with us for more than 25 years now. Things have changed a lot and we have more choices than ever. I often get asked these questions: which Java should I install these days? Should I worry about the licensing? In this video, I'll try to find some answers for you.

Sorry about the speaker notes, they were not supposed to be visible. On the other hand, that gives you a little sneak peek of what's coming up, so perhaps not so bad. Note to self though: Watch your own videos once they are ready, before publishing :)

Did I make a mistake? Did you learn something new today? Do you have something to add? The comments section below the video clip is waiting for you!
Also, if you like the content here, click that Like and Subscribe button, click the bell icon to get notifications of new upcoming videos here, and finally, share the goodness to your circle of friends, by passing on links to these videos. All of that helps me to make more of these.

Thank you for this explanation, my vision on this topic now is much more clear.

Great stuff. I wish developers could gain some real world administration experience (I know a lot of devs shy away from maintenance) to perhaps give a longer term perspective on why LTS-style support is sometimes a good thing (and worth paying for).

I'm a 1st year engineering student...my teacher recommended the jdk 1.8...but I've installed the latest version 16.0.2 beforehand. Would this be a problem for me in the future for my java projects or should I stick with java 8. And please tell why java 8 is still famous or recommended over the latest versions available.

Will I miss any feature choosing one other? I use Java for machine learning mostly... I was about to use Redhack but then saw Temurin.

Thanks! Super informative video! My only quarrel is the mispronunciation of "Linux".
