Why Expositional Preaching?

If you believe God's Word is inspired, inerrant, authoritative, sufficient, and clear, then the best way to put those beliefs on display is through expositional preaching.

Expositional preaching demands the preacher know the Word he is preaching and the Word as it was originally intended by the biblical author. 

Read Luke 24:13-35 where Jesus says:

"How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! [26] Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?" [27] And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself." (Luke 24:25-27).

Good explanation of expositional (or expository) preaching. Preaching the Word in season and out (2 Timothy 4:2) requires going verse by verse and explaining what the text says by its content, context, and grammar. I know I've learned a lot from listening to preaching done this way. In fact, the Christian listening to this type of preaching should always have their hearts/mind to receive the truth of the Word to not only know it, but to apply it.

“Putting your beliefs on display”? That’s a very vague and subjective way to explain expository preaching. Do better!
