A Prime Example of Thought Crime in the New Testament is John 3:15 - 16
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
What a person Believes is the Thoughts in their Head.
It doesn't mean that thing is true. Only that is what they Believe (Think).
Given our thoughts of what is real are based on our experiences in life then Beliefs (Thoughts) are subjective to the historical time period, Culture, Economic status, many factors.

Regarding the Tenth Commandment let me break it down for you. This is all about what is the Property of a Man! It is also about Thought Crime since to Covet is to Want or Desire.

Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

There is simply no way for any Christian to Spin this!

The context of it occuring is made very clear. If a Man find a woman that is a virgin and lay on her (Rape Her) she is to be his wife because he Humbled her. Deuteronomy 22:28 - 29 That is self explainatory.

Humbled is the Hebrew word 6031 An naw meaning chasten self, deal hardly with, defile, exercise, force, gentleness, humble (self), hurt, ravish

There is No Context where rape is good.
Numbers 31:17 - 18 advocates Mass murder and rape. No Context makes that Good!

So giving a message like women are property (The Tenth Commandment) is to be applied to peoples lives today? Or that Rape is Humbling a woman should be applied to people today? After all it is in the "Inspired" word of this God.
This God that can not change!
You can't say oh that is the old testament and was replaced by the new. Oh No that would denote this God Changing and that just can not happen!
Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not.

This means God views You as his Slave!

Clearly you do not know how to find the SUBJECT & OBJECT in what is being talked about. Being able to identify the Structure in a sentence leads directly into being able to deturmine the Subject of Object of what is being talked about.
The Subject of the Tenth Commandment is PROPERTY! Which the MALE owns!
Among the List of the MAN'S PROPERTY is listed A Wife & Slaves! As well as a House & Animals!
It ends with OR ANYTHING THAT IS THY NEIGHBORS!
Clearly making it all PROPERTY!
