Before 2012 Jojo was seen as an unadaptable manga, no one thought that it was possible to capture Araki's style well in the anime form.
But eventually we were able to get an anime that does bring out the uniqueness of the original.
I still hope that Berserk is just undergoing the same thing.
I would love to see it get the good anime adaptation that it deserves.

Berserk is disturbing and depressing only to the outside viewer. Anybody who has watched or read Berserk knows full well the manga is heavily nuanced, and deep down is about hope, justice, family, honor and sacrifice, and learning to live in a world that doesn't want you in it. It's a manga/anime where some of the most surreal horror can exist mere panels from the most emotional and sentimental plot threads I have ever witnessed.

Not reading/watching Berserk is honestly doing yourself a major disservice. It's like not watching Star Wars at some point in your life. Berserk is a work of art, and its only 65% finished.

For all those who worry that Berserk may be ending, one of Miura's assistants/apprentices has indicated he is willing to continue and finish his work with notes left behind by him, should their publishers give the go ahead. In its own way, I think that's sort of beautiful: not because of Miura's unfortunate passing or because he never got to see the end of his own work, but because part of what he created revolves around the hopeless and inevitability of fate, but still keeps the faint hope that we struggle onward despite that, in the hope that one day, with enough small gestures and time, we can change a broken world for the better.

Fighting against inevitability...sounds like a perfect analogy for his own work, to be completed by those who knew and respected him best. I can't think of a better way for someone to be honoured.

RIP, Kentaro Miura.
