Universe 25 Documentary | "Mouse Utopia"
Universe 25, also known as the "Mouse Utopia" experiment, was a study conducted by the ethologist John B. Calhoun in the 1960s and 1970s to investigate the effects of overpopulation on social behavior in mice.

The experiment involved placing a group of mice in a specially designed enclosure called Universe 25, which had an unlimited supply of food and water, but limited space. As the population grew, the mice began to display abnormal behaviors, such as hyper-aggression, social withdrawal, and even self-mutilation.

Over time, the population declined due to a lack of reproduction and an increase in mortality rates, eventually leading to the extinction of the colony. The experiment has been controversial and widely criticized, but it remains a significant study in the field of animal behavior and population dynamics.

Our society is based on that principle of competition for resources as something inherith to the human and animal nature. And it's that kind of reduccionist thought which is creating the conditions for a societal collapse through consumer bonanza. As a proud ex- at owner; I can tell you that it is also in the nature of mice to collaborate in order to obtain resources; to explore their environment freely, and to solve problems. If they are not physically and mentally stimulated, or feel welcomed by the group; they live unhappy, short and miserable lives; even with food and nesting and enough space in a comfortable cage. A "perfect universe" for mice would contain grass, and dirt, and insects, and roots; and all sort of things to climb, taste, smell etc. Not a square box.
