Someone asked me what Star Trek meant to me. This. THIS is how I feel with TOS ...
"For one quarter of a century, they have thrilled us with their adventures
Amazed us with their discoveries and inspired us with their courage.
Their ship has journeyed beyond imagination. Her name has become legend
.
Her crew – the finest ever assembled.
We have traveled beside them from one corner of the galaxy to the other
They have been our guides, our protectors, and our friends.
Now, you are invited to join them for one last adventure
For at the end of history lies…The Undiscovered Country.

0:44 This part makes me cry because the statement of Star Trek being “our guides, our protectors and our friends” is so true. My mom was a fan and wanted to make sure I understood the message of what every episode was trying get across. I always felt at ease while watching the shows and movies which sadly wasn’t a common occurrence with fellow friends and family members. I don’t recall many people from my past but can tell you everything what these characters meant to me.

It's been 25 years since I first saw this trailer. Hard to believe Star Trek itself had been around exactly 25 years at that point. Incredible how times goes so quickly.

Having just seen the first teaser for the upcoming "Star Trek Beyond" which is being released in Trek's 50th anniversary year, and seeing how frenetic it is, I had to come watch this old clip. THIS here, with images from the Original Series and the first five movies, with James Horner's music and Christopher Plummer's voiceover, is how you do an anniversary teaser for a beloved franchise. They should use this for teaching the art of the trailer in film school, if they don't already.

This is the trailer I always think of for ST6. I can still remember seeing it. Me and the girl Id marry were at my mom's house. My older sister was there as well and this came on tv...the huge 25" console tv in the den :) Thats when I found out my sister was a Star Trek fan and had seen it in its original run. I was not born until 69 so only had reruns. This may still be my favorite trailer ever. Mom was be gone just 2 years later. Now everyone is gone including my wife. My sister is all thats left. Times change. I miss those days. Young with all life ahead. This trailer made you feel both young and old when you watched it.
