Vladimir Putin declared in news video last February “We will, without question, use ALL the means at our disposal to protect Russia and our people. This is not a bluff and those who try to blackmail us with nuclear weapons should know that the ‘prevailing winds’ can also blow in their direction.”
Later, in a separate video he stated “They should know that our response will be lightning fast.”
As we celebrate the new year of 2023, it would be well to contemplate the current status of Putin’s Russia. He expected to take Ukraine in less than a month back when all this started. He completed the takeover of Crimea in 2014 in less than a month (Feb 20 – Mar 18). This time, he is nowhere near winning over Kiev and bringing Ukraine back into an ‘old style’ Soviet Union type of dominant power not seen since the Cold War.
China to the East looks to be the dominant economic power in the World by 2030. NYTimes article titled “China’s Economic Growth” (ISSN 0362-4331) shows its trade with the U.S. at $451.7 Million a month average. Before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, its trade with the U.S. was very similar. Biden’s boycott since last February has dropped Russia’s trade to a maximum of $1, 539.7 Million a month and some months just $62.5 Million (US Trade Online Dec 2022). Other nations have put sanctions on Russia, too. Russia is suffering a severe decline economically, from the actions taken by the U.S. in support of Ukraine, both sanctions plus armaments.
For Putin to have made the statements above, he must have contemplated a final move that involves unleashing nuclear weapons into the conflict, as a last resort. The U.S. is the only nation to ever bring the wrath of an atomic bomb down on its enemies. No nation has dared to, until now. If he is pushed beyond any possibility of avoiding utter defeat for his nation, without using his “ultimate” weapon, then America should prepare for nuclear conflagration. The world would be forever changed in less than ‘one hour’. He has said that he can reach us in 15 minutes. Putin has 5, 700+ nukes. He could annihilate America with a third of these and still have enough left to rule the world. This option could be his “Mother of All Hail Mary Plays” every executed in any conflict in history. He has warned us. He's not bluffing.
