In this video, I compare budget-friendly Chinese food with a luxurious high-end experience 🍜💰. I started at Ji Xin in Uxbridge, where I got a feast of classic dishes for just £20 ($26). Then, I headed to MiMi Mei Fair in Mayfair to explore their upscale menu, spending £405 ($502) on refined Chinese cuisine. From dumplings to specialty mains, I break down the flavours, portions, and value for money to see if the price tag truly reflects the quality. Which spot comes out on top? Watch to find out! 🥢✨

I’m so glad you went back and told her how good it was! Not enough people do that and I bet you made her day ❤

Awh, thank you for going back to tell the lady how nice her food was. Honestly as someone who has worked in kitchens both serving/cooking the food, after having a continious day of "Oi cuz, lets get that innit" and having a really, really shit, stressful time/day, when ever a customer came back to tell us how nice the food was, it literally made the day so much better and all the bad prior obsolete, kindness can help so much, thank you Harrison

If there’s anything I learned is the more ‘random’, small chinese establishments with the laminated menus will be the most amazing, filling, and comforting takeaway you’ve ever had in your life. They stuff the containers full too, it’s always worth the money and honestly quality too

Please do a video on the most expensive bakery in London! Cedric grolet. It’s like £80 for one cookie and other expensive stuff

This is the Harrison Webb style I fell in love with lately! This is raw, talented journalism, amazing editing, storytelling, and most of all, taking us to places to tell a food story ... Keep up the amazing work, Harrison! 👏👏🤷

That first place looked absolutely fantastic for the price, and you can tell that woman has a lot of love for her craft.

When i was in Nanjing, China. I had Beijing duck, exactly like that. Whole Duck, all the trimmings (plus the head, lol) presented with the sugar, fresh pancakes, etc etc. and it was heavenly, best meal ive ever had. A fraction of the price though. Roughly £10.

£30 for 5 dumplings is highway robbery

4:10 the chinese takeaway style beef, usually flank, is "velveted" in cornflour and bicarb to tenderize and remove any gamey flavour. To prep for dishes it is actually deep fried in a wok in SUPER hot oil, higher then a deep fat fryer goes. It is then stir fried into the sauce. The outer cornflour layer can become gooey and soft but helps sauce stick to it

I used to eat at the first place when I went to college, you could order when you left the lesson and they would have it ready by the time you got there literally 10 minutes !

I've lived in Devon for 33 years. I'm from Uxbridge. Nostalgia!!
That take away unit was there when I was young. Between the ages of 11 and 16 get Chips there every Saturday (1985-1989). It caught me every time. I'd be walking to the bus station and pass here. I'd get chips rather than the bus then have to walk the 45 minute's home.
Love your videos! Keep it up.
Ty.

I’m so blessed to be able to travel to mainland china, get a whole peking duck set for £20 (that feeds 4) 🤟🏼 in hong kong it’s slightly more expensive but sooo delicious. The pancakes are usually thin, slightly see through with no charring at all so it was cool to see that restaurant do their version

Would love a part 2 (or short) of you bringing loads of friends to the first place, heck just you going back and showing her you really liked it. Honestly, looked bang on, great price too.

Waiting for a part two of you bringing loads of people to the first place and having a mini party in the alley

The Uxbridge place...is like a glitch in the matrix...too beautiful and unreal to exist! Keep up the great work, greetings from Athens Greece!

Used to eat there during uni days 2010-12 . Remember picking up the duck fried rice for only £2 (it even had a couple of prawns) amazing value!

Great video, its a breath of fresh air to be able to highlight both value and qualiity of smaller establishments as opposed to expensive pretentious ones 🤙

The problem with Chinese food is that there are so many regional cuisine, it is really hard to compare. The more expensive food is banquet stye, that is only really established in some regions, one of which is Cantonese cuisine. Different regions also have different emphasis and styles. For example, Teochew cuisine tends to emphasize the freshness and flavour of the ingredients, so the food might appear "less complex" on the surface.
