Part 8: Taxi-in + Shutdown

In this tutorial series, we cover all the basic steps required to fly the default Airbus A320 from A to B in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Whilst the series is aimed at beginners and people new to the A320, it still aims to follow real-world Airbus procedures where possible.

In Part 8, we taxi the aircraft onto the bay and then perform the shutdown procedures.

I know it has been awhile since you made this tutorial series, but I just wanted to say that I followed along today, Christmas 2022, and this is just what I needed. Very clear, easy to follow and just the basic level instruction I needed to get in the air (and back on the ground) and begin my adventure with Airliners. This series has really peaked my interest and made me want to do many more flights, increasing my knowledge along the way. I look forward to checking out your more advanced series after I am more comfortable with the basics. Thank you!

coming from the 2014 msfs and using the 737 for 6+ years, the new auto pilot for the a320 and the completely different set up was absolutely overwhelming for me.. this entire series was perfectly simple in its description of everything a person needs to do to learn the basics, and i have watched all 90+ minutes 3-4 times to really solidify the basic procedures which have been described and shown in such a simple way that i was never once confused. i cannot state enough, just how well done this series is on the simplicity, straight forwardness, and ease of comprehension. GREAT JOB!! and thank you for putting in the time and effort to help those who are beginning.

Not to be picky, because this SERIES is AMAZING, yet simple and got me in the air, more accurately than I thought I ever could with this aircraft, but when running the APU, at least ONE Fuel Pump must be on to feed it fuel. And if your center tank is empty, you need one to feed fuel into the center tank, because that is where the APU gets it fuel from. As you did it here, the APU would simply turn off once it drains the feed line. :) Great Video though! LOVE IT! :D

Thanks for the series. I've always had a hard time flying the A320 (or any Airbus for that matter), kinda got used to the B734 back in FS95/98 days, and never fully understood this piece of machinery. Probably because we don't "fly" it too much, most of the time it's all about setting up systems and monitoring them. At least now I think I'll be able to get the plane from A to B with a sense of control :)

Thanks for creating these easy to follow tutorials on the A320. Really helpful especially to a beginner like myself on the A320v2 & nice to see a video explaining things in simple terms. Like also how you kept it all in the sim & no third party websites etc especially as I fly on Xbox X . Liked & subscribed.

Thank you for this series! It was very well done. I'm brand new to sims, but I'm keen to learn to fly the more interesting aircraft and not just fly the Cessna 152 forever! I plan to rewatch this series and take notes in a notepad like a classroom! Because I want to learn it and remember it all.

Have you considered doing a similar series covering other aircraft that people might use for different things? The Citation jet looks fun for simulating business travel. Or the Grand Caravan for those island hopping bush trips. Or do you think that once you know one aircraft system you know them all? The dials and interfaces look different though.

Could you make a video about how to correctly do a go-around? I was trying to land at Schiphol, and the traffic ahead of me took too long to vacate the runway, so I had to go around and realized I had no idea what to do next 🤣 I kept asking vectors to my follow up waypoints and my altitude which had to stay around 3, 000 ft ended up at 10, 000 ft somehow. Thus a video on how to setup again for a second approach would be nice.

When i try to reduce speed and altitude on AP, it doesn't respond anything.why?
Also the speed up to 500 knots
