I got my Dewalt 7 1/4” cordless from about 1/64” (over 7 1/4”) down to .0025” using this method. It took me about 20 strips (at least), though. Next time I would use a dial indicator zero’d out against the blade. It is way too easy to tap by hand or hammer and overshoot the adjustment. FYI, when the wood strip is wider at its bottom then the top (which was against the fence), the blade is angled less than 90 deg and you must move the miter swing arm to the right. Its just the opposite if the top is wider than the bottom.

What about miters? I cannot calibrate mine accurately. The 90 (-0-) is spot on but 45’s R to L are all over the map. There is not one video on adjusting detent gauge plate accurately.

Thanks for you vids. All are really helpful!

hi Gary, appreciate all your videos. question: how do you compare the festool miter saw to the bosch and why do you like the festool better?

Hello, my problem with my dewalt dw715 is that the right side of the fence is not square to the base of the Saw, it's slightly obtuse, so every time i am cutting on the right side of the blade with my piece standing vertically, it doesn't give me the best cuts. Every adjustment i can make I have according to the manual. Is this simply a manufacturing defect or something I can fix?

Pretty good ... I gotta change my miter saw to something better .... can’t get a decent 90 at all

How is this a calibration? You haven't calibrated anything.
Shouldn't the point of the video be to rectify a badly calibrated saw?
