Nurses represent the front line of health care -- from first breaths to last moments, and everything in between. But there's a vital place nurses are missing in action, says Ben Gran. He makes a compelling case for integrating their invaluable insights and experience into health tech innovation to help make care (and the process of providing it) better for generations to come.

I summarise the key takeaways
- Healthcare innovation and technology is growing quickly, making it difficult for new professionals to keep up
- Nurses are not offered the opportunity to innovate, and they are often not paid enough
- Innovation is problem-solving as in, looking at an issue and trying to make it better
- There is often a disconnect between the developer and the end user within the healthcare system
- Education systems often create a ‘nursing bubble’, narrowing paths and not promoting problem-solving
- New technology can add more to a nurse's workload, and there is a shortage of nurses
- Nurses should be the driving force behind advances in technology and should be included in development
- Innovative education should be more widely available to students
- Cross-course collaboration should be encouraged
- Healthcare leaders should provide more financial support and promotion of innovation

Most important quote:
"But most importantly, us nurses are the ones who truly understand what aspects of our jobs can be replaced with future technologies."

This quote is important because it highlights the valuable experience and knowledge that nurses hold. Nurses are often not given enough credit for the innovative solutions that they could bring to the healthcare industry, but this quote emphasizes how.

After watching the lecture, I could see that relationships play the most important role in living healthy and happy. I found that social connections and intimate relationships were much more valuable than professional achievement or the pursuit of wealth, and that the quality of relationships was important, and loneliness could be harmful to health.

Damnnn he said "after all, one of the first human interactions you have in life, is with a nurse, in the maternity ward, and one of your lasts, will be with a nurse, by your bedside."
What a selling point 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Honestly I can't wait until AI technology is fully functional within the healthcare industry.
Now I have more reason to love the ideal.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

From years of working in healthcare industry, it is not only nursing but most of patient care personnel who has contact with patients and family members, the pay is so low when compared to technology sectors. But it is the field that all of us need the most when we get sick. Only the administrative are get paid in comparable to technology sector but the rest are paid less than a minimum wage in comparison. And the truth is NO TECHNOLOGY can replace humans in this vulnerable stage.

Retired but served 30 years and from my perspective nurses are under appreciated, underpaid, overworked and in those years the damage to my body and psychologically can not be totally repaired. The time demanded kept me from family and life experiences. The12 hour model produced physically tired, mentally fatigued nurses and healthcare workers. Nurses are used, abused and their jobs held over their heads. Why so many stay? The money invested in your education. Having to retrain for another career. The interruption in income. But many have walked away. And then there are medical politics….all about the money not patient care.it’s all about the unsaid threat of either towing the line or hit the door. It’s getting the patient in, push to suck every dollar out of insurance and get them out. There is always that dark swirling under current.

The point is to help the world! For example, health innovation in nursing was very interesting.

Of course, nurses are extremely important and not nearly as appreciated as they should be.
