Typhoon Gaemi is moving across the Taiwan Strait and heading toward Fuzhou in China's Fujian province.
The high-speed railway system has been closed - affecting about 260 trains.
In Fujian, ferries have been suspended and construction at building sites has been halted.

Typhoon Gaemi made landfall on the northeastern coast of Taiwan early on Thursday, triggering heavy rains and floods.
It's the strongest typhoon to hit the island in eight years, with winds of up to 227 kilometres per hour.
At least two people have been confirmed dead.

Hong Kong journalist, Laura Westbrook, has the latest.
