I don’t need this for a Home Assistant display, I don’t need this for a Home Assistant display, I don’t need this for a Home Assistant display…

For digital signage at church we took a large TV with only 1 working HDMI port, tacked on a Raspberry Pi with a digital signage build. It has played for 4+ years. Cheap, reliable and recycled.

Cody, nice review as always!
I have a 7" display in my bedroom and a 13" display in my kitchen. Both are set to show my Protect cameras.
The color and contrast on the touch screen are great. Sound can be controlled remotely or locally.
In addition to the zoom, timeline access, viewing by events, etc, you can set roles and schedules for the UI.
My wife can adjust some settings (like microphone sensitivity), but not others (like adjusting exposure).
Schedules can also be setup in the Connect app. EG: the 7" display in my bedroom dims to 25% brightness and 30% volume from 2100 to 1159. From midnight to 0700 the levels are reduced to 5% and 10% respectively and then back up to normal levels during the daytime.
The schedules got the WAF (wife acceptance factor) up to 95%...especially since I travel a lot and she can see what is happening outside at night.

Excellent review. You gave me more information that UI itself ;)

Actually, we can integrate this to the control systems, like a smart house or meeting room and make it works with the Crestron control system.

This looks like a great option for giving a reception or guard desk the video feed from Protect. It could as be used for things like customer sign-in or wavers. If you set up a website for to-go orders, that could be another use. It would be good if they partnered with companies like Square as a register terminal with Bluetooth card readers and printers.

Cool device. But I would rather have a Unify device that accepts PoE and outputs HDMI, so I can connect a Big TV like 80" for digital signage. It would be cool if Unify will give more features for Digital Signage, like grouping with different videos, videos with frames (so you can open a webpage like weather or RSS feed for news texts to scroll).

This is wild and solves some other issues we have been looking into for the job.

I'd love to see a smaller version as an IoT dashboard in every room running HomeAssistant or a custom app that could switch between some dashboard and Protect. Ubiquiti, please make that happen so we don't need to use untrusted Chinese IoT control screens!

I know the unified connect is designed for a commercial kiosk and other things like that, and very well built and strong and sturdy. But I have a 27-in model with the wall mount normal TV VESA adapter And it displays my protect cameras, all 16 of them on there. Mounted in my master bed room. My wife really loves this because she can just walk up to the cameras select what she wants to see or select new cameras. And then I have a 7-in one and that one I have going to my home assistant dashboard and sign in with an account that only has access to a set of dashboards and it's on my work desk. And I have it mounted with the desk mount stand, which is very sturdy and very hefty and weight. And then I also have a wall flush mount adapter, but it doesn't fit any standards as far as electrical boxes or anything like that so I'm going to have to cut the circular hole and then mount it with anchors but it's very thin compared to where the drywall is so be difficult but I'm going to do that eventually and put in the wall by the front door. But it's a perfect little thing as a home assistant touch screen dashboard. It is very expensive so I wouldn't recommend using it for that purpose, but these both were my test units and so just putting them to good use.

For Protect display mode, can you change the layout of the cameras so you can fully utilize the screen real estate and not have black areas?

I like that you can put websites, protect cameras and apps on these displays seems the display cast should be able to work the same way, but it’s just good for signs and works really well, have several of those installed in business lobbies.

Thanks for review. I've been curious about this product, but I did not quite understand all it afforded.

Looks nice for the camera displays. Really pricy though. I set up PiSignage for my digital signage applications. And while Pi’s are much more now, still cheaper than this, plus can use any size display.

Have you tried the Protect with an AI360? If so, will it show a dewarped image? I bought a Viewport to use as a Protect display, and it will not show a dewarped image, so it's pretty useless for my application.

Great new product, thanks for sharing. I may buy one. As much as I love Unifi. 5:56 makes me glad I haven't left the Hikvision cams yet. Dynamic range is not good there. Can't believe how overexposed the light parts are (esp first picture in the second row). Unifi interface is fantastic, and Hik is horrible. But they really need to get it together with dynamic range on those cams.

Great video! Do you know if Unifi Access works on this Connect Display?

Have this price point. I find it hard to justify versus rolling your own with a large Android tablet.

I'm looking for something like this, but to me it makes more sense to buy a mini PC or NUC and a 13"–15" portable, touchscreen HDMI display for about the same price—maybe even an OLED screen if you find a good sale. And then you have a *full PC* running whatever OS you want, can view any webpage in 4K, run any app you want, see your Protect feeds, etc. The size seems a bit odd: too big and clunky for a dashboard (and too low of a resolution at 1080p), and not big enough as effective digital signage. And the chunky bezels makes the screen overall feel dated.

Ubiquiti please read this! Down here in New Zealand we pay DOUBLE prices for every single Ubiquiti products! It's just not fair! Our biggest tech store rip us off.! Please open your international selling system for us and let us purchase directly from your website, even though with the shipping fees we still pay so much here for your products. Thanks 👍
