The biceps brachii muscle is one of the most important muscles of the upper extremity. Indeed, when you first think about the muscles of the upper extremity, it's likely one of the first arm muscles to come to mind. Innervated by the musculocutaneous nerve and composed of two heads - one long and one short- the biceps brachii inserts on the coracoid apex and the supraglenoid tubercle. At the anterior side of the humerus, both heads of the biceps brachii merge into one muscle.

In the shoulder joint, the biceps brachii muscle partially enforces the opposite movements of abduction and adduction. At the elbow joint, it flexes and supinates the forearm.

In this video, we explore the bicep brachii muscle in more detail. You’ll learn more about the:

0:15 Location of the biceps brachii
0:35 Origin and insertion of the biceps brachii
1:02 Function of the biceps brachii
1:09 Innervation of the biceps brachii
