Funnily enough, cooperation between India and China to become the two allied superpowers of East Asia could have actually happened. Before the Sino-Indian war where China annexed lands from northern India, India was incredibly friendly towards China and wanted cooperation rather than competition. China annexed these lands to improve their logistics over Tibet, but this decision ended up turning India from potential ally to permanent enemy.

After Independence, India adopted a socialist pattern of economy not Communist.
Socialism →
• A large part of production is controlled by the state.
• The private sector is present but a limited role.
• The capacity of the private sector is controlled by the state.
Communism →
• No private ownership of wealth.
• A large part of economic production is owned by the state and the private sector has no or minimal role to play.
In INDIAN context state that would take measures to promote the welfare of its citizens and prevent the concentration of economic resources in the hands of a few people as a part of redistributive justice.
Some of the schemes & programs of the govt, such as MGNREGA, PDS (Public Distribution System), Right to Education, are examples of the socialist nature of the Indian State.
