This is going to be a long one because I learned a lot from Forgotten Weapons here on YouTube. Damage is kind of a subjective measure because an unprotected target can be dropped by both weapons in one hit. Bores .30 inches in diameter are usually prized by soldiers because they did better at penetrating armor with devestating affect to the target behind cover and they withstand crossbreeze relatively well (that, however, is a moot point because soldiers these days are trained to compensate for crossbreeze, regardless of the rifle's caliber). The 5.56, however, lends itself to relatively well to most tasks and can drop an enemy just fine, just remember to aim for gaps in their armor, such as the head, arms, legs, or even their groin. It sounds dumb to aim for limbs, but your limbs have arteries that can be severed by gunfire. You could even get a lucky shot off by hitting underneath their armor and tear open a hole in their thorax, causing what is known as a sucking chest wound. If there is a sucking chest wound, the air that accumulates in the thoracic cavity will cause the lungs to collapse, rendering the victim unable to breathe or call out for help. Morbid topic aside, it's not so much that one is better than the other, it's a matter of use case. The M16A1 lends itself pretty well to accuracy, but to say the M16A1 is worse in any other regard is ignorant. The M16 platform only malfunctioned because the design was based on old philosophies of firearm design. Those mistakes were corrected in the later iterations of the platform.

AK. Mine ate 550+ rounds of corrosive ammo yesterday, without a single malfunction. Meanwhile my AR had a malfunction after a mag and a half, took it outta commission for the rest of the day
