Z Fold 6 vs Z Fold 5: Choose Wisely!

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is here and it's really nice, but not much of an upgrade at all over the Z Fold 5. The new 7 years of updates and support are nice, as is the brighter screen and small changes in dimensions, but overall if you've got the Z Fold 5, it's not worth the upgrade. The Z Fold 6 is a great upgrade for the Z Fold 2, Z Fold 3, and even Z Fold 4!

I think you are giving an honest assessment. I would not move from a Z Fold 5 or an S24 Ultra if I currentlyhad one of those devices. In my particular case, I moved from a Note 20 Ultra. So far I am really enjoying the Z Fold 6. If not for the presence of other folding devices with better specs on paper in some areas, it would be hard to dispute how good a device it is. As I am not a professional photographer, I am not so hung up on the camera specs not being the most elite because it actually takes really good pics. I like what I like even though some others are going to nitpick every pixel in the pics and in the spec sheet. Without putting it side by side with all the other big players, the vast majority of people would be happy as the pics mostly are comparable to the top dogs based on the comparisons that have been posted. In real life and not spec chasing it is fantastic so far for my particular needs. I would say people should do their research, to include going down to their local Best Buy and playing around with it. I don't think it is for everyone. I do think it is a nice phone for people moving from devices that are 2 or more generations old as you basically stated.

Z Fold 5 to the Z fold 6, is like getting the car, that I just bought last year, some new tires and wheels, seat covers and maybe like changing out the speakers.
That's my example and yes if you're coming up, from something that's 2/3 years old then you're good to go🤔

I really enjoy your videos Adam. I bought the 6 and planned to use the 5 as my trade in. After using the 6 for a few days, I have decided to return it. I don't love the way it feels in the hand with the squared corners. I also like the colors better on the 5. I was comparing the two outside and it seemed the 5 was easier for me to see. This is just my opinion. I really was looking forward to the six but the long charging time, Same battery life and no change in cameras, had me feeling a bit underwhelmed. Again, just my opinion. I definitely feel it is hard to go back to a regular style phone, once getting used to a Foldable. You are always on point and do a great job of giving your thoughts on the phones. I am someone that always wants the latest and greatest and definitely fall into that "FOMO" trap of not wanting to miss out. This is probably one of the first times that I actually stuck with my year old phone and did not keep the new one lol

I'm looking to upgrade my Note10 plus this year. It works well but the battery drain is real. I will keep my Note10 plus as a back-up phone. Would this be a good choice to upgrade to? I'm waiting until the Iphone 16 to come out before I finally make a decision. Looking into the S24 Ultra, Fold 6 or Iphone 16 if it wows me enough. Thanks for any advice.

Youre the only channel i watch for Pixel and google news. I know thos is a fold 5-6 video but have a question. I got the 6 but now im digging that Pixel 9 pro fold. I suffer from pwm screen flickering and the pixel 8 pro killed my eyes. Have you heard anything about eill they be using pwm or dc dimming on the pixel fold 2?

Mr. T-O, Excellent "honest" review. You had said the same thing a month ago about the Fold 5 vs. the Fold 6 (before you even had the Fold 6), so you're staying true to your initital review. I've watched other reviews on the Fold 6 vs Fold 5 and a lot of them are saying the Fold 6 is "a lot better". Sorry, they're just drinking the Samsung Kool-aid but you're not! (That's probably why your order got screw up, Samsung is watching and they don't like you! 😮 Thanks again for your great objective reviews on all the products. Keep staying honest and telling it like it is! There is nothing about the phone that makes it worth the almost $1, 900 price tag when the almost 1 year old OnePlus Open is still for the most part better talk less of the almost identical Z Fold 5. Waiting to see if the Pixel 9 Fold has anything worthwhile to offer. Btw who keeps a phone for 7 years for the warranty to be worthwhile?

I don't mind them recycled my 4year old phone and refreshed it with a new chip a new battery and a new screen and a new OS which added new full-care warranty and security update for $200 more, till the next time I update do the same thing in a couple of financial years. Did anyone remember what oneplus and pixel were selling 4 years ago? How many of them are still officially updating software and what are the resale value of those?

I really hate the sharp corners on the z fold 6. The 5 is so much more comfortable to hold. Im sort wishing i still had my zfold 5.
