Some of these lessons on YouTube feel very high level. It's amazing the access to professional content we have sometimes 👏

I love your upright bass man, wish I could afford one💯👍

If you stand straight up and don't have any body movement it doesn't matter where your accents are you have to move your body when you play that's according to Ray

Woe, that's crazy. It's something so simple and seems like it shouldn't work, but I already feel it.

I’m a guitar player and this is something I needed to hear.
Cool video.

Swinging on the 2 and 4 reference points. Nice upright bass too.

Similar to rudiments on drums: if you follow the 8th notes it will just be if you accent the 2nd note you will have much more control over the sound, making the piece much cleaner.

I'm mainly a drummer and can hear the difference when bass players are just pretending to walk

Good vid

Good advice 👍 What’s the make/model of the upright?

_It Don't Mean A Thing, If It Ain't Got That Swing_

Yea the only problem is i’m pretty sure if i took the audio file of this video and lined it up against a grid i would see that the timing is pretty much the same. Cause the thing that actually dramatically changed wasn’t the timing but the volume. Yes it’s gonna sound more swingy if you accent the offbeat even if the overall timing stays the same.

Thanks. I'm new and really want to sound human.

The 1 & 3 emphasis will sound like a Johnny Cash bass line

I just count in 3/4 time it works great for me

But wait a sec, he wasn’t playing on the 2 and 4. The last walk was the same as the first one he said wasn’t right!! Maybe I’m not listening hard enough but the 2 & 4 walk at the end sounded like he was using the 1 & 3 as well!!
