Calamity mod has a number of classless weapons including the bazooka, hydra, magnum, lightning hawk, elephant killer. These weapons are classless and are extremely powerful, some of the best weapons within the calamity mod.

they were cool back when there was no "x times per boss" limit since they could be spammed as long as you have the ammo

the thing is, by the time you get to bosses difficult enough for you to need those weapons, they're already completely irrelevant
the grenade launcher is trash and you'll do more damage with a normal weapon, and the magnums dont deal good enough damage post polterghast (potentially DoG)
the hydra is genuinely good though, considering you can get close. a free 7.5% in a second can help a LOT

these weapons seem very useful and if im being honest ive never used them before, after watching i might give them a try since they seem like they could really help a lot against some of the more difficult bosses.

While the classless guns featured in this video do become rather dull later on, there are other classless weapons with quite helpful effects like the lunic eye or the eye of magnus that inflict marked for death that half enemies DR, or the yanmei knife which cripples bosses temporarily by removing 20 DR and increases your own damage. They are definitely worth using for some extra damage

i recomend classes weapons for people who struggle as summoner since they dont activate the damage penalty (otherwise known as whip 2.0)

Pretty sure these were once very speedrun viable, due to a bug making them infinite use, and you could get alot of ammo from bosses, allowing for bosses to be shredded

The ammo wasn't purchasable version 1.5, so any information about them before then is going to be based on them being one time drops from bosses.

fun fact:
the upgrades for the magnum deal extra damage to organic enemies like plantera for example
and the bazooka deals extra damage to non-organic enemies like the mech bosses
not sure about the hydra tho

I used to use these, and the low damage classless weapons like eye of magnus, back when you got a limited number of magnum rounds from first time killing a boss.

honestly i thought the ammo wasn't buyable and that's why i never used these. if the ammo can be purchased from the arms dealer, even though it's expensive, getting gold/plat isn't that hard if you're an experienced player and/or you are using other mods like Luiafk and have access to things like Ultimate Battler.

Honestly the "X times per boss" limit is what kills this weapon and its gimmick, other than how immensely underpowered they are outside of pre-hardmore/pre-plantera, if someone wants to grind 6 platinum to kill a boss that weapon could allow them to do that. In my opinion it feels fair this way, unless someone is straight up cheating I don't see how you could even get out of pre-hardmode without grinding 40 platinum so it's kind of like buying your way out of 1 bad boss for most playthroughs.

they wouldn't be forgotten, if the mechanic wouldn't make them kind of "sidekicks". Like, yeah, they're powerful, but 1-3 uses per boss? like, with hydra, you get so much of damage, but only when all the bullets connect, so it aint as colorful as decribed. most practical use i found so far, is just to end up bosses, which may be useful, if you feel that you might mess up at the end of fight, but that's about it.

another big issue is on bosses who will block, dodge, or tank the shot in some way. EOW and DOG can tank cause all the damage goes into one part, bosses like the yarron or true clamitias can just be too fast to hit easily with these weapons, and any boss with minions can have the minion tank the shot

They only need to increase the limits the weaoons can be used imo.
