EASY BASIC Gravy Foolproof Recipe

A simple basic technique to ensure creamy and glossy gravy every time. Once you master these few steps, you can really make it your own and put your personal spin on it!

Ingredients:
1/2 c unsalted butter {or your fat of choice}
1/4 c unbleached flour
1 1/2 c low sodium stock, warm or at room temperature
S + P
{Cognac, thyme, and cream are my personal favorite additions so definitely play around with it to make it your own!}

Instructions
Melt and brown the butter. Do this by setting your pan low and slow and keeping your eye on it. It can go from browned and aromatic to burned and bitter very quickly.
Vigorously whisk in the flour a bit at a time all while simultaneously whisking.
After a few minutes, slowly pour in the stock.
Heat and stir until nicely thickened.
Adjust seasonings as you go.

oh my God I have searched all over YouTube for gravy recipes and I'm not that great of a cook so this has got to be the best and most simple tutorial I have seen thank you so much God bless you

Believe it of not the only thing my niece likes to eat on Thanksgiving is the gravy and if it's not made well, she won't eat anything at all. Yours has a fantastic color, Angela!

Thank you so much for this. My mother used to make her gravy this same exact way and it was always the best. A lot of recipes tend to get fancy and do too much. LOL. I hope a lot of people realize that this right here is the best and easiest way to do it.

This is the best gravy I’ve ever had. It works with bleached flour too it just isn’t that beautiful clear color, its a creamy brown color. I used vegetable broth and it literally tastes like magic 😍

Instead of butter I used olive oil and instead of chicken stock I mixed some chicken flavor bouillon and did the same steps and added black pepper and it came out very amazing and my whole family loved it and it was the first time I made it and did it this way because I used all the butter in the turkey, mashed potatoes, and some brownies and chicken stock in the turkey so it made the gravy with what I had left and it was bawm
