Everyone was right about this...

Looks like most fans were right. Ventress was actually returning. And it seems Star Wars hasn't retconned her novel Dark Disciple either.

*Fun Fact* : Dave Filoni was going to have Ventress fight Kylo Ren in the “Star Wars Resistance” animated show a few years ago, he ultimately chose to cut the idea because he thought it would take away from the new characters, so he was low key always planning on having Ventress survive DD.

One thing I love is that Ventress started life as a piece of rejected concept art for the character who would become Count Dooku (the artist submitted her again for the character who would become General Grievous, and was rejected again). She's had quite a journey!

I PRAY she and Ahsoka meet up again someday, and work together for a good season or movie, would be absolutely legendary to see them fight together! 🤍🤍💛💛

I'm glad she's alive. She's one of the few interesting characters left imo.

I'm really digging Ventress' new look. She looks good with hair.

Shows up in Ashoka season 2 as the one that rescues Tano and Wren. No spoiler announcements or trailers, just a ship lands, hatch opens, 'You look surprised, Tano. Were you expecting Skywalker or Kenobi?"

For years when people asked me about Ventress, I would say that she's the Drow Elf of Star Wars...looks like one and acts like one, IYKYK. Ventress is one of the few characters in the Star Wars Universe who has been trained in the ways of a Jedi as well as in the ways of the Sith...but she also was trained in the ways of the Sisters of Dathomir...making her Very Unique. While she never reached Jedi Master status nor Sith Lord status as Revan did, her combined training as well as her Sisters of Dathomir training, should put her head and shoulders above most Force Users...Most, not All. Remember, Obi-Wan was said to have had a low M-Count and didn't have a high connection to The Force as a Youngling, but through training his connection grew enormously. Ventress could likely be similar due to all her different methods of connecting to and with The Force.

I liked how she is progressing in the story currently, she still has anger and that rage underneath yet she's mellowing it out just enough so she doesn't let it affect her as much. She almost completely has moved on from wielding the dark side, however she still has those moments where she struggles. Love her progress and love to see she is becoming a balanced force user.

a few notes
1. no, filoni did not bring her back, jennifer corbett and brad rau did, see that they say he "suggested" it, in an earlier interview they talk about how ventress was the best fit for the story they wanted to tell, which implies other characters were suggested
filoni probably suggested a list of characters, but jennifer and brad picked ventress

all credit SHOULD go to jennifer and brad, not Filoni, he was not the one to bring her back as he did not make the choice

2. ventress has scarring all over her face, which she got in dark disciple, which is a double confirmation that it hasnt been retconned

I know some people are pissy that she's back and I have to admit that characters not staying dead sometimes irritates me as well but in Ventress' case her death in Dark Disciple just felt like a waste. If the method used to bring her back isn't completely stupid then I'm on board for more of her. She's clearly a character they have some plans for at least.

Her light saber color is telling. Possibly 🤔

I mean surprise surprise. Killing off an extremely popular character in a book no one read was a terrible decision.

Imagine the sequel to the bad batch is a ventress show. Showing her in her place during the empire possibly us growing to love her character more deeply?

*There is potential for another Quinlan Vos and Ventress storyline our there now!*

NGL it wasn’t until I saw Merrin from Jedi Survivor with hair that I knew the Nightsisters could even grow hair. For some reason I thought all Dathomiri were completely hairless like Ventress.

To me, I’m really hoping that they’ll make dark disciple a live action film. It would be the coolest thing ever done for the clone wars era!

Ashoka, Ventress, and even Omega are the types of female leads you want to see. Ray, Rose, and purple hair lady are not how you write strong female leads.

I'm just glad she isn't dead. Her book was mostly about someone else and then she died for his story which is just the worst end. At the end of Clone Wars it looked like she has such an interesting future.

Personally I'd love a Ventress series. If they want to stick with the Clone Wars-style animation, that'd be alright, although I do think it might be time for something different stylistically just to create conceptual separation from the Clone Wars/Bad Batch militarism - which suits a more bold, rigid art style - to something, I dunno, a little more natural looking. At any rate, following Ventress in the years between the end of the Clone wars to the beginning of the Civil War would be pretty cool I think.
