Unmotivated Streamers

One of the most common topics I see is about motivation to stream. In a recent Reddit thread, a 0 viewer streamer complained that streaming to 0 viewers is unmotivating and he doesn't know how to continue. So how do you keep motivation to stream when you can't grow your Twitch stream, or how do you stream when you have no viewers? I made this video to address and break down this question.

There are a lot of complex motivations and thought processes in streaming to low view counts that I want to work on here. This is an issue that small streamers torment themselves over where a few corrections in thinking can completely reshape someone to be a successful streamer on Twitch.

I made this video for small and large streamers, and everyone who watches Twitch interested in this phenomenon. I'll cover the larger issue of mental health in streaming in a future video, since that is a topic all in its own. These small streamer tips can help you grow on Twitch in 2021. There are also some great streaming tips for beginners on Twitch.

ironically enough, a video every day or 2 from Devin Nash IS the solution to motivating me to stream

I love the idea "focus on livestream as a secondary market to your brand"

This makes PERFECT sense. live streaming for 8-12hrs in a day does little for you. you can spend that time writing scripts, recording videos, social media posts, networking, story list goes on. Have event based live streams and polished videos. I think this is the future.

Evergreen content is the most important thing easily, most big streamers are big because they have content people can watch when they aren't live

*Be Someone Interesting*

This is best advise you can give to a streamer who's unmotivated.

The r/twitch sub is honestly the funniest non-advice circlejerk community out there. Thanks for these videos Devin :)

"Be someone interesting"
Sometimes it's not what you THINK you'd find interesting, but something that comes you naturally and with passion that goes overlooked when the time comes. Thanks Devin

The "I have to be an expert" mentality is something that caught me off guard, finally a channel with some good advice, thanks Devin!

You see this a ton with the Partner burnout where the hype of the partner push is gone along with the people. Love the content as always man!

The part about documenting the journey is so important and really resonated with me. I used to stream variety and wanted to commit to Overwatch but I was a low rated player. I decided to stop streaming for months and dedicate all my time to improving at the game because all the top streamers were high rated. When I finally got to GM I tried streaming again, lost all my viewers, and couldn't adapt to playing the game at a high level on stream while being entertaining. It was a disaster. Don't be me, listen to Devin and just make stuff now, even if you're scrub rated in the game you want to be known for.

Still here at 25:20 ^O^ Taking notes as always! Even though i get about 30-50 viewers at a time and 100 viewers on good days, i still know there's more to learn about streaming and how to leverage it. And that is, letting go of viewer counts. I'll try to do this and spread it to my friends.
Thank you so much for doing this!

Ive been stuck in the 5-10 viewer range aside from raids/hosts for about 2 years now so I really appreciate your opinions and ideas on keeping motivated. It definitely gets tough sometimes!

25:06 I always finish your videos through. I don't know how relevant they all are to me personally but I just really enjoy the way you break things down

Those old strange ass personal development videos you first made on this channel really helped me out. They are some of the best on youtube and I have them on a playlist for myself to watch when im feeling down. Thanks for never deleting them devin.

Your videos are interesting and incredibly insightful. The amount of knowledge you give away for free is absurd.

On a side note I'm literally inhaling these videos like ketamine. Your frequent uploads are very appreciated.

Ancillary and analogous are indeed words, although something being ancillary would mean it was connected to but supporting the first thing rather than completely separate. Maybe that's what you were going for though.

Thanks for this Devin. I made a 'failed start' at Twitch streaming and right now I'm rethinking how I want to do this. I think now I'm just going to focus on Youtube entirely including streaming here. I think another thing I found unmotivating is the editing process; I realise the need for evergreen content but editing is a means to an end for me and not something I can find passion in. Part of this is probably just getting through that early phase of learning where the process is more draining due to the fact that you're learning a new skill and videos take longer to make when you're basically a noob at the software involved. It's like I have the vision and there's probably a way to do it but my skills aren't adequate and that can be tiring. Your videos have reminded me that it's the right approach though even if I'm in a learning phase for now and it can only improve as I gain more ability.

"Documenting the journey" is something I feel Gary Vee would say too.

23:10 For me personally when I follow someone it means I enjoyed something about the stream and want to come back to it another time.
