The dinosaur tail in amber deserves its own video !

So I looked at the source provided and the article says that iron particles have an effect on proteins and cell membranes similar to formaldehyde.

Dinosaurs weren't very smart, so their brains failed to make an *impression.*

I remember that episode in Dexter's Laboratory where a dog's brain had to be substituted for a resurrected t-rex's missing brain.

Good times...

I'd really like to know how they found out that it was fossilized brain tissue

"The iron in the dino's blood turned into formaldehyde" Somehow, I'm not believing this literally

Mary Schweitzer et al. never claimed to find blood cells but some of the breakdown products of blood, heme, which was not in a soft state at the time, but had to be treated with accid to desolve enough for testing. The T. Rex thigh bone it was in was unbroken and encased in limestone. So basically, it was a perfect time capsule with even fermaldehide. There is nothing that states that a compound in a very stable state has to decay during millions of years.

Omg that's so cool.... I never ever would have imagined we'd find something like that!

2:30 Wait, what? "Iron turned into Formaldehyde"? Now that's just plain wrong

Wow, I love that we're still learning so much about dinosaurs.

If you are more interested in the host rather than the topic, I think you're in the wrong channel.

How does iron turn into formaldehyde? I must have missed that day in chemistry.

How would iron turn into formaldehyde? Iron is an element and formaldehyde is an organig molecule made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.

Very interesting. Good topic, Olivia.

I'm glad I clicked on this video. I assumed it was a silly question and that all of that stuff would have decayed over millions of years. I love being wrong, pleasantly surprised, and then learning something new! :D

Such an incredibly large planet. So many fossils out there. Miraculous fossils better than anything we've ever discovered. Good times!
