How to Write a Resignation Letter (+ a Free Template) // Picture this. You’ve already given your two weeks' notice at your job and started packing up your desk supplies. There’s just one little thing you still have to do: write your letter of resignation.

It’s possible that your company may not require a letter of resignation, but does that mean you don’t need to write one?

If this is the case, you probably won’t lose anything by not writing one, but it’s always nice to go the extra mile. Spending fifteen minutes to write a resignation letter that outlines what you appreciated about the job and the company you’re leaving is a small price to pay to make sure you leave on good terms. I watched an insouciant interviewer throw a “Thank you” note he received from an interviewee, in to the garbage, during my interview with him. I have NOT written a “Thank you” note since then.

Peeves
- Rude Interviewer who are NOT part of the hiring process. The person hiring for the job is on VACATION!
-Interviewers, whose ADULT children keep interrupting my interview, whining to their Mommies about lunch.
- Interviewers who laugh at my job history during the interview.
- Interviewers trying to ‘size me up’ to fill a position I did not apply for and have NO interest.
- Job Fairs! Never once led to a viable contact.
