American here again, we don't hate Britain, we share close past and relationship, its more like sibling rivalry. We'll talk shit all day, but we have your back.

Many things you say like, half past etc., we used to use. It’s fallen out of favor ages ago. We do use day and month interchangeably at times. We might say July the 4th, or 4th of July or July 4th but we would write it month then day. Many older people might remember many of these things like ought but younger generations would never have heard of the term. We kind of use Nursery school and Pre-school interchangeably. Depends on regions for some things like in the South they use First Year etc. at some institutions. I know because I got confused when I first heard my daughter mention it.

We dont hate British people. Actually, I believe people everywhere mostly do like each other. I believe it's in large part the leaders who try and keep people divided.
I think you two are awesome! ❤

We just call it math. Even if we are referring to multiple types of math we still only say math. Unless we are talking about a specific kind then we would say algebra, calculus etc.

Question...
Being that Jersey is closer to France than England....
1. How much influence does France have on daily life in Jersey?
2. Do y'all often go to France for goods and supplies or just to go to France?

I always found it confusing. There is Ireland, but then there is Great Britain, then there is the UK, then there is the British Isles. Then you get into Wales, England, Scotland. Obviously there are maps that show me how it all works. But in conversation, I can neve remember what is what.

Pubs around the world tend to put the keg in the cellar, so the beer or ale is at cellar temperature; warmer than America's ice cold, but not warmer than the Arizona desert. To Americans, cellar temperature is too warm. But the UK is rarely as warm as most American summers. My daughter and her family live in Arizona and today's high will be 109F or 43C. All drinks generally are iced for a reason. No one in my family drinks alcohol, but I put my heavy glass mugs in my freezer with an inch of water. Water, soft drinks, or lemonade then has a nice cold mug ready at hand.

The way James says water does sound like warred, but when trying to make it sound like without the second r, makes it sound like wata.

LOL about the intrusive arse that strolls in front of Laurence as he’s commenting on the Intrusive R. Couldn’t have been better planned! PS: 🩷 black or white pudding.

Black Pudding, with White Pudding, Back Bacon, a fried egg, beans, buttered toast and fried tomato is the best beez knees.

I noticed the intrusive R back in the 80s when presenters from the UK talked about Princess Diana. They would say Dianar. At first, I thought I was imagining it but I soon found out it was just the way they pronounced it.

Most American bars will keep the glasses in a fridge and will pour from a keg system that is refrigerated. UK Pubs don't really have the space to have all their beers refrigerated, they may have one tap line at minimum or none.

Being from Southern California, I've always noticed Brits saying that intrusive R. I think most Americans do. However, my 4th grade teacher was from Boston. Us kids immediately picked up on the way she said "drawing". We kept trying to get her to say drawing and she couldn't do it! LOL!! "Drawering" was how it came out, no matter how many times she tried. I thought she had a speech impediment (hey we were only 9 years old!). My question is: How do you know what you're talking about if you say "chocolate pudding" if pudding is just dessert? There's chocolate pudding, tapioca pudding, vanilla pudding, butterscotch pudding. It is akin to saying that all desserts are "cake". No they're not lol!! Loved this and glad to see you guys are back safe and sound!

I think as Americans, we "like" the royals as they are interesting in the same way as Beyonce interests us and more importantly we have no/less trauma over us than that of India or Africa has over the royals. We kicked the royal's butts out of America and the British Museum doesn't have anything that we really care about getting back (and if we did, we'd probably just take it). I do think our love affair with the royals died with the Queen.

My question.. since everyone mostly has small cars in the UK then what do you use to haul your boats, campers, random work trailers that you might own?

Don't hate on your accent Millie. All our little speech patterns and idiosyncrasies are beautiful. There's no such thing as a bad accent.

Except Long Island, NY...

Kidding, kidding. They are though coincidentally known to throw some intrusive R's in as well.
