No one was being scammed here. Like in Embu town if your car gets cramped and you fail to pay the fee before 4pm the car gets uncramped but in their system it will always show that the car is still cramped. Any other time you park that car in that town it will always show as a cramped car. Secondly it's common sense to know you can't leave your car in the street and expect it to pay the parking fee by itself.

The parking issue was a misunderstanding, first guy in the reflector works for the restaurant and only guided you to where you couold park. In kenya all parking fees are collected by the respective county government. Always have a valid parking ticket displayed on your dashboard. The real issue here begun when you stepped into a symptom of the rife systemic corruption and breakdown when the car allegedly had an outstanding bill. The truth is, Kenya is corrupt to the core, and while it could have been a scam, there's also a very likely chance that indeed the car was previously clamped then illegitimately unclamped via corrupt backdoor means hence it doesn't appear as officially unclamped in the system. If you can, find a trustworthy translator. For the most part Kenyans are a kind and loving people and it shows here when the locals interceded and translated for you and in your favor to the parking lady whose English wasn't very good. Sorry you've had a few sour memories, I hope they weren't enough to sully the sweet! Karibu tena! Hakuna matata🦁

Diani beach boys are nightmare. Impossible to have a walk, just constantly harassed by these people who wouldn’t take answer for no. No one is relaxing on beach because it’s impossible! Just don’t go there. I saw similar situations lot where people tried to make you pay for nothing

Did you just travel to Kenya without understanding how the law works? Kenya, Rwanda, and a few others have working systems. You cannot just park anywhere, it's the taxi guy who misled you or he played dumb.
