“My thoughts” on the Santa Fe after seeing a dozen reviews and going to the dealer and trying it many times:
1- I love the engineering of the car and the excellent utilization of space. The space inside is large compared to that of bigger cars.
2- The utility of the car is impressive, and so much storage space in the car that is usually overlooked.
3- All your technological needs are there.
4- The powertrain is good for the category (not a luxury car or a Genesis), the four-cylinder turbo is better than most in the class, though the initial gear shift is a bit reluctant.
5- The design: Love the front and the side.
6- I don’t like the back design, especially the back light, the looks, and the location are horrible (looks cheap and an old design).
7- Amazing to see Matt paint on these cars.
8- The interior design is too boxy for me (reminds me of old cars that only had squares to work with), and too much usage of the “H” that makes it look like a toy. Wish they had used the quilted-stitching on the chairs and incorporated some angles on the door to break up the old look. (See the quilted stitching on other KIA and Hyundai cars, which makes them look like a luxury car.)
9- Seating position and visibility are great.
10- Physical buttons for most things is good.
11- No shiny black plastics is a plus.
12- Not sure about the front opening vents without a grill for the long run, will it take damage to the radiator from road rocks.
13- Happy to see the front lights are higher rather than placing them low, as many of their cars do, as placing them down is an issue if you hit something low, which would lead to changing them, and that would be expensive.
14- Missing massage-seats and built-in dash cam (for the top trim) compared to the new Palisade.
15- I wish all manufacturers would STOP using large rims with thin walls for SUVs (in their top trims usually).
16- FYI, this is not really an off-road car (good for family trips and loading stuff, but not for challenging terrain).
17- Not sure about the reliability, especially with this DCWT transmission, and that could be the reason they are changing it for the 2026 model.
18- In general, it’s an excellent value for what you get.
19- Personally, thinking of buying the car. There’s a lot to like about the new Santa Fe. (Also Genesis, please, make an equivalent-sized vehicle)
