thing is, none of your arguments are really DAW related, more like product related. what I mean by this, normally when they get serious with music people tend to accumulate and use high end plugins, samples and loops. also 200$ vs 400$ is not a factor if you're looking to be a pro producer. the factors that matter is how well the DAW actually performs after you factor out the price and after you grab your fabfilters, omnispheres, waves plugins, etc. How easy is it to work with the arranger, the piano roll ... Can you customize keyboard shortcuts? are there interesting workflow features for automation? in which interface can you be more productive? etc. ultimately what I take away from this video is: Logic is cheaper for the quality you get, but only works on Mac. Is that really something that matters so much after 1 week of using one and 4 years of using the other?

You’ll learn why everyone hates Flex Pitch as time goes on, all your other points are quiet valid! Great video

I started with Logic 9 back in 2010 on a macbook pro. I lost my Macbook and had a rough time from 2014 to 2019. Lost a lot of stuff due to bad life decisions. No matter. I didn't have the extra cash to buy a mac and all the equipment I needed so I stuck with PC and tried Studio One based on my buddies recommendation. He's extremely knowledgeable and very well versed at not only playing music but production so I trusted his opinion. He was correct. It's an amazing piece of software....for being on PC. However Logic Pro X is just my dream DAW at the moment. There is something about the AI of the software that makes creating a song so simple. It flows like water. The software is able to pick up on your groove and rhythm in the song it seems. So when I quantize my parts, the results I get are far more dynamic and actually sound like what I'm going for than in any other DAW, Studio One included. Although it's not as bad as others! The workflow you can achieve with Logic is second to none, in my personal opinion. As soon as I have the money to switch back over and get a decent used mac tower I'm going to do it. I'll probably run both honestly. I am opening a micro studio out of my house so having both will be a big deal. I want to offer quality recording and production services to artists who are either new to the process and don't have the cash or the experience to hire the big boys around town. I really care about the vision of other people and I want to help craft what people hear in their head. We remodeled the house back in 2011 and turned teh garage into studio room with all hardwood floor. It was originally a dance studio for my mom to practice in but she hurt her foot and went into painting instead so I took the room over. I'm having a buddy build me some Acoustic Diffusers to stick up along with my acoustic foam and bass traps. Gonna put a big blackout curtain up on a long rod I can put up and down to seperate the room when I'm working/recording. I've already got most everything ready. Just need a few more mics, the diffusers and some various little things here and there. Looking for a good used studio desk around town. I have 2 desks set up as an L right now and it just isn't economic for hiding wires and space. If anyone out there has Studio One or Logic and would be down to collaborate on some tracks hit me up. Been playin guitar for over 24 years I also play drums and bass as well as sing a little. I love to collab on any style of music but would love to do something akin to fusion/prog rock with a few cats who can keep up with me!

PS.
Studio One 5 and Logic Pro X are tied in my opinion after over a year using Studio One I can honestly say that. I do prefer Logic if given a choice but I'll run them both in the futre.

In my experience: Stock plugins in logic are great And if there is an update to a particular voice of an instrument, it will ask if you would like it downloaded and install..once you say yes, boom...you have it. The GUI is mature and professional. Also, the effects sound very realistic and professional. In Studio One, they have great stuffs there too but they have a long way to go when it comes to plugins and more. I don't like the GUI but that's not a problem. instruments in Logic are mature, fat and rich, unlike in Studio One where piano sounds like toy piano sounds from kids playground. I opted out of sphere because they send me useless stuffs every month...things I don't think I would need in my entire life. But I give kudos to the guys at PreSonus, they are moving faster than I had thought..they are not just there yet.

The biggest thing, and a deal breaker for S1, for me was how easy it was to sync video with the audio in LP. S1 had some external window that didn't sync at all. Terrible.

I literally just watched why Studio One was better then Logic Pro X, lol…I’m a complete nerd for these things so I’m entertaining all the good info since I have both right now.

wait so it has nothing to do with the actual application and more to do with the included sound libraries and fx? No one is using the stock shit

All the instruments, plugins, FX & sound libraries of Logic Pro packaged into Reaper would be the killer DAW IMHO.

After years, I’m planning to do the opposite 😁
Non of the 5 points, I’m just tired of bugs, crashes and Apple products/policies/marketing (all plug ins are original, M1 Ventura)

I would like to use my nuclear gaming pc with windows.

Mac mini was right choice 2 years ago, now it stops while playing projects. Too limited despite many vids shows it can do better than you think.

But yes, loops, stock plug ins, pitch and that are better.

May be I’ll give Studio One a try…

Thank You, Thank You! Logic is “miles ahead” with more instruments, effects and loops and live loops for $199. Studio One 5 Pro $399 for much less. The community support for Logic is huge and Apple releases high quality Producer Packs and content no other vendor can match. The reason Ableton Live and Logic are #1 and #2 is they target the musician/producer, while ProTools and Studio One target the technical studio engineer. In fact Presonus’ Studio One appeals most to Avid ProTools users who don’t have the budget for the expensive software/control surface devices they sell. I admire Presonus’ studio control surfaces - which might work best with Studio One - but that’s an engineer’s argument that does nothing for the creator or composer.

Are all third party plugins compatible with logic on Monterey unlike pro fools?

Cool. Why did you move to Logic? I'm looking at the other way around but mainly not to have to depend on a Mac. I do like logic

I love the CPU monitor of StudioOne, I love the Logic Plugins, I love StudioOne Macros, I love Logics Screensets, I love StudioOnes Clip gain envelopes.

Something important to note for those of you saying Studio One is better, and it may be, but Fender bought PreSonus, who owns studio one. And they are famous for buying out things and driving them to the ground, and as much as I would hate it, they will probably do that to PreSonus. So Logic has my vote for now.

I am a month into trying to switch to Logic from Studio One, and I HATE Logic. Okay, maybe that's too strong, but there is nothing about Logic that I like better than Studio One.

By the way, DaVinci Resolve is also better than Final Cut Pro. And I'm not anti-Apple. I love my MacBook Pro, my Mac Studio, and my iPhone. But I do not love these two programs.

So…the five reasons you’ve listed why LP is a better DAW come down to economics, that you feel like Apple’s stock plugins are better than the offerings from PreSonus, and that the base price is cheaper. Nothing about the usability, workflow, basic features, audio quality, etc. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but nothing about this comparison is inherent to the DAW itself.
