Normalize Responsive Feeding in Babies From the Start!
Показать описание
🙏 Can we just ditch all the noise around starting solids and make responsive feeding the #1 thing?
For reals, no matter how you choose to start your baby on solid foods, I hope responsive feeding will be at the center of it 💓
(Love this video example of responsive feeding - thank you to the cutie’s mom for allowing me permission to share!)
👉️ Responsive feeding happens when caregivers are paying attention to baby's cues for hunger and also fullness, and responding warmly & quickly to those cues.
👉️ Whether you're offering finger foods, purees, or a combo of both, feeding responsively is what matters most. Tuning in to your baby, letting your bub set the pace, and allowing baby to decide whether and how much to eat.
👉️ When we make this the goal, the rest really does tend to fall into place.
❓️What does responsive feeding look like during spoon-feeding? Different for every babe, but here are some examples:
❣️Waiting for baby to lean in toward the spoon rather than airplane-ing a bite into the mouth
❣️Waiting for baby to open mouth rather than sneaking in a spoonful when baby is distracted
❣️Watching carefully for fullness cues like pursed lips or shaking the head no and honoring them even if you think baby hasn't had enough to eat
