In a world that is obsessed with today, the future and the new are we loosing the life affirming experience of looking at photographs of the past? Hugh Hastings is a professional photographer and writer who lives in Cornwall. He was the official photographer for Chelsea Football Club for 10 years and has managed the Club’s official photographic archives since 2008.

He has ghost written several biographies and is the author of several books including a children’s adventure novel and book of his Chelsea FC images.

What a great talk Hugh. Thanks... I'm going to make a picture book over Christmas of the house we built three years ago.

I really enjoyed this Talk, very thought provoking. I have always likened photos to an ultimate DeLorean, they have the ability to transport you back to a specific moment in time, that is not necessarily fixed to that captured still image but a moment, with that, for me, comes all the senses: the smells, sounds, tastes, feelings etc. A pocket of time that can be revisited. Wonderful, magic! Lovely to meet you the other day, I knew you were interesting! Btw have you ever read John Bergers ‘And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief as Photos’ (1984) it’s beautiful. Michelle x
