What you need to know about Administrative Processing

Administrative processing is confusing. What is it? What should you do to get out of it? How long will it last?

Well, there are lots of reasons that may lead you to get into admin processing. And, each reason, will require different actions in order to get out of it.

Besides asking to book an appointment for consultation if somebody’s case is stuck in 221g, being a former visa officer you should make a separate video explaining why the visa officer takes so long? What they really check? What means if the status remains same and last date updated? Also if the visa officer asks for any additional paper/documents then why he takes long just to check one piece of paper? What is the myth behind the curtain?? And if that paper has been checked then why the visa officer keep it on hold? These are the question need to be explained.

Other than that, if somebody needs help he/she will contact your firm. But these point need to be clarified. Thank you

My husband got a 221g for his medical exams as it was not received on time when he had his interview date 12/29/22 (Honduras Embassy) Finally the embassy received this medical exam in January and his passport was requested, we went ahead and submitted his passport that same day. But as of today 4/3/23 the case is showing refused but the last time that the case was reviewed was 03/29/23. IR1 Visa Case . Thank you

Question: do CO’s get a notice on their computers regarding AP and who they put in AP? For example; DS-5535. Who decides if a interviewee will be placed in AP for DS-5535? I just don’t believe that the officer makes decision on the spot. I think U.S security agencies flag potential cases and advice the CO’s to issue a 221g to certain people.

What happens when they tell you your visa is approved and they take your passport but when the time has passed they put your status then in administrative processing? can you clarify this? Our embassey is in a different country from where we live. This is a migrant visa.

Hi, my fiance received 221g refused white letter only after his interview in Lagos-Nigeria. Should we still expect any review in our case? If so, what should we do?

I understand that 221g is not final refusal, I also understand AP can take indefinite time but ive already waited 18yrs without my family, may b another 18yrs. Sincerely, deptt of state should prioritise the long awaited applicants compared to fresh applicants. There should b a sense of justice. Anyways, I believe american justice system is the best in the world, just needs some improvements

I had an Interview Visa K1
I answered all the questions and I have all the documents, but in the end the officer gave me a piece of paper written on it (your visa is refused under 221g and your case will be returned to uscis

IF YES, then how to tackle that because the date to join college or university is very close and you said that it will take too much time for the consulate or the embassy to change the status of Administrative Processing.

I had immigration interview at US Embassy Islamabad with my father and mother in law . My wife is a US citizen.

All of us got a 221 g with two boxes ticked 

1) administrative processing (you will be notified if further action is needed)

2) passport(submit via courier)



Embassy demanded no documents. 

Is it good sign that they ticked the second option also?

I have got my passport back with 221g yellow form.
I have been asked to appear in an interview again. I have been asked to bring my new photograph with me (which is written by pen on the top of 221g form). So, what could the possibility out there? How much time it would take?

By email we asked the Consular if they need more documents that's when consular ask my son for court report, my son didn't have it at that time, first because he was not convicted, second he did not have it at the time of interview. My son from Ankara went to Istanbul where he reside more than 17 years ago and got the report. Then by email we asked several times if they need more documents, the answer was no. It is already a year and half passed his interview and they didn't issue a visa yet. Will you please tell me why the administration process take so long, of course for us not for rich people whose thier parents are government officers and support Hezbollah.

I have given interview for H1B visa and got 221g with white slip mentioned as administrative processing. Almost two weeks completed. Still my employer told he didn’t receive any queries/questions from USCIS. Is there any other way to find which queries sent by USCIS to employer from our end.

Dear sir I am the main applicant of my Dv case. I gave interview on 10 March and I went to AP but on5th April my AP become completed than I sent my passport by courier. But my wife had medical issues because her interview became left. After one month they schedule another interview for my wife on 6Th June. But unfortunately she also went to AP .

My case type is SIV (Special Immigration Visa). so my case is refused for about 57 days and 6 days before I received a call from CARE Team which said that please send me the scanned copies of passports, National ID, Marriage Certificate, and important than all fill out the DS-5535 form online so still I didn’t receive any response from CARE team.

My question is here that how long does it take ?

And important than all I am from of Afghanistan and I think CARE team can only help or evacuate those who are in Afghanistan / Pakistan….!

I am in United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪, so I do NOT know who why they call me…
