Yo, I'm Sun Haven's lead writer, I'm glad you liked the fantasy setting and the story. Thanks for including it on your list!

Coral Island all the way. I am continuously blown away how they have evolved farming games to the next level on all fronts.

I do all my gaming on the Switch and I am craving Sun Haven and Coral Island. I need them.

The only farming game I bought this year was Fae Farm ... I think. And I love it!
I also tried the demo of Harvestella and just had no fun at all. But I'm grateful they had a demo. More games should do that on consoles! Because it's wayyy easier to decide which games you want to buy. There are so many games out there I could love, but I don't know because there's no demo available. Watching gameplay is good too, but it's still another world to play the game by yourself.

I'd like to recommend the game "Dave the Diver" here! Fun addicting gameplay loop that also has a main story to follow. The game isn't that much of a "farming" game, since most of your farmed ingredients are sea creatures that you kill/capture (although you do unlock a farming area about halfway through the game to grow ingredients). You then use your fish/ingredients every night to sell at your sushi bar, and the more rare/exotic the fish, the more you can sell them for. There's also a decent amount of combat along with boss fights, but the game is very charming and the 2d pixel animations are great

Harvest Moon(SoS): Animal Parade was overall my favorite in the series. It's on the Wii. It would make a great remake or even HD remaster. Harvest Moon(natsume): The Winds of Anthos was pretty good. Natsume is finally making their Harvest Moon a decent farming sim series in its own right. Fae Farm I just went through too fast to enjoy it long. Palia I enjoyed, and love the cozy farming sim MMO experience, but it was lacking in content but will definitely play again when they inevitably add more content. I'm gonna stop typing before I make an entire college essay out of all the farming sims I have played.

Loved Harvestella so much. And honestly the fact that my farm was this haven that I could just stay on and chill and ignore whatever was going on outside was awesome. I'm a completionist so I loved that there was a big journal to show what all I'd made and what I still need. It was so beautiful. I actually tried to make some of the food. I kept getting excited as more and more of the story was unveiled.

Currently on my second playthrough with Coral Island which I watched for and contributed to and was so happy when it came out. I played early access and got all the while to marriage and babies but now that 1.1 is out I choose to start a new character and enjoy it all over again and having already had 4 years in I actually won the 1st year Harvest festival!

Wylde Flowers and Sun Haven have been in my wishlist for a while and this video has made me likely to snag them next. I might get Sun Haven for my daughter. It looks like something she would love.

I’m loving on Harvest Moon Winds of Anthos right now. I needed easy but still has a good story. And I’m glad I did. It’s been an enjoyable week.

Speaking of X Seed (and it’s not farming but “cozy” I guess and it sometimes fall into similar lists- avoid Silent Hope. I was SO excited for this game, preordered the day 1 physical pack… it’s not good. It’s a glorified mobile game. It gets so boring.
But I LOVED Harvestella. I liked that it was farming just to get you through the dungeons and it game you something to do between dungeons. It wasn’t crazy hard combat, I loved it.
Dragon Quest Builders, DQ Treasures and DQ Monsters are awesome. Roots of Pacha has been a blast!

Thanks for the list of new possibilities to explore. For me it's been a Wlyde Flowers spring and summer, and a Coral Island fall and winter ☺

I came here looking for a good Coral Island review/overview, and when you started comparing it to Wylde Flowers, I was sold. Wylde Flowers is the first cozy farming game I really got into, and now I'm looking out for more. <3

Totally agree about Hokko Life, thank you for another great list. I always enjoy your video and even recommend it to my friends, so thank you so much for that.

I really enjoyed Dinkum, and played it fairly early on. However I felt I'd seen all of the gameplay loop before more content was added. When I tried to go back, it felt like a grind to get to point of seeing new things, and I wasn't as excited to play through it again. I also got into Roots of Pacha, which again was good fun while it lasted, but it didn't feel well balanced, and things seem to take a lot of time to get going. I haven't gone back to that to see what's changed. I put a lot of time into Graveyard Keeper but got burnt out on that because it really became a grind to get anywhere, and a lot of the mechanics never really felt well explained. All that said, I'd gladly recommend all three games.

I haven’t played My time at Sandrock/Portia on Switch, exclusively PC. I have a custom PC that runs games like AFOP and other high-processing games so I don’t run into any bugs. I hope after their done with My time at Sandrock’s release, they try to respec those two games for Switch or take it off the market. For me, I’m not so great on the Witch of Fern Island. It has potential but looking for all these ingredients with no idea where or what they are is exhausting. I wished they added a feature where there’s a description on where to find the ingredients if it’s needed for a request.

I absolutely love Sandrock, and I'm playing it on switch, currently 125 hours on it and not sure if I'm even half of the story, love every second of it. But I agree with the performance issue, it is terrible, I just dont have a choice since I only have switch lol. If I will ever have a Steam Deck (cant im broke lol) I would love the game even more.

I'm currently playing My Time at Portia on Switch because I want to give My Time at Sandrock more time to update before I play it. Mtap does have some long load times and I will admit that i fell through the world one was a weird experience. 😂 But otherwise Ive had a blast with it! It has quickly become one of my Switch favorites. There is just so much to do! I love it!❤ I didn't play it when it first came out, so maybe it is better than it was day 1?

Please trust me, give Witch of Fern Island another try. It has grown so much and it's so beautiful and the story and the music! The game is also finished, probably one more content update but the map is fully open already.

I would also love to recommend Farm Together for anyone who wants an easy and chill farming game and loves to design their farm, but doesn't want to deal with the whole open world/story part of farming games.
